As a Charging Technology Engineer at Allego, you will join the Charging Technology team to enhance the charging experience for EV drivers across our pan-European network, aiming to increase customer conversion and retention.

In this role, you will:

• Monitor key market trends in charging technologies, energy management, and smart grids;
• Manage technical communication with hardware suppliers about existing and new products, features, and developments;
• Collaborate with product managers, suppliers, and other teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of charging solutions;
• Assess the quality of new suppliers, hardware products, and internal electrical components of charging stations and accessories;
• Validate firmware releases for charging systems in cooperation with EVs;
• Provide advice on technological and economic feasibility for different use cases and business scenarios;
• Act as an expert connecting chargers with Allego’s backend, supporting Operations, and advising on future improvements;
• Serve as a sparring partner for the Charging Technology Product Manager and delivery/operations teams on technical issues;
• Conduct in-depth technical analysis and provide support on charging issues for internal and external partners.

• You have 5+ years of experience in a similar role;
• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a comparable technical field;
• You have a strong understanding of the product lifecycle of electronic products, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and compliance;
• You are familiar with communication protocols such as OCPP, ISO 15118, or Modbus and have experience with network integration;
• You have experience working in multidisciplinary teams and writing functional specifications;
• You understand cybersecurity principles;
• You are fluent in English; knowledge of other European languages is a plus;
• You are willing to travel internationally a few times per year;
• You can work part of the week at the Arnhem office;
• You hold a valid driving license B.
