This is a key role in which you act as the linking pin between the financial accounting community and (HFM) Application Management, coordinating and managing the entire process regarding the HFM system in order to deliver the timely, reliable and complete financial information for AkzoNobel. Furthermore, together with the team you will monitor the consistent and adequate observance of the accounting principles as defined for AkzoNobel and perform final checks on AkzoNobel's consolidated numbers to ensure reliable and robust financial information.

In addition, you participate in and lead quality improvement projects related to the consolidation processes and consolidation systems.

A high level of communication skills is important as you interact with a wide range of professionals across our organization, inside and outside the Finance community.

The position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and you will join a multinational and multicultural organization that is committed to your personal and professional growth.

You co-shape and co-manage the month end close, which includes supervising and taking part in:
* The preparation of month end close instructions / timelines / delivery profiles
* The monitoring of the progress of the close (including controls performed)
* The review of consolidated information
* The initiating and/or approving adjustment to the figures
* The preparation of the final consolidated balance sheet / P&L for approval
* The providing of feedback and issuing of KPI scores to the delivering teams

Within this context you also:
* Contribute to the Financial and Economic manual, which is a set of corporate guidelines on accounting and reporting to be observed by the reporting entities
* Initiate and coordinate changes in the accounting and reporting principles of AkzoNobel for approval

You "own" and are responsible for the HFM application and other consolidation tools; together with the team of Key Users you:
* Advise stakeholders/counterparts on all levels (cross functional) with regard to system and process issues for the AkzoNobel consolidation process
* Liaise with user on requests for changes; review and approve such requests
* Initiate system improvements
* Plan and coordinate IT activities (including changes to the HFM system) within the IM Department
* Organize user testing
* Streamline and improve the application management, change management and consolidation processes
* During closing periods, manage the consolidation process, from system preparation to finalization
* Execute restatements, safeguard security management

You frequently participate in projects which relate to the consolidation tools or which impact or require change of the consolidation tools and processes.

You align and conclude with internal and external auditors with regard to the consolidation process and systems.

All of the above requires you to communicate effectively with
* In general, all stakeholders in the consolidation and month end close processes
* Accounting controllers and regional accounting centers with regard to consolidation processes and corporate consolidation
* The IM team on changes to and maintenance of the consolidation teams

Gestelde eisen

* Education: MSc Economics or similar, with a degree in financial accounting (RA, CPA or similar)
* Experience: 8 - 10 years in financial accounting and reporting, people management, project management
* Languages: excellent command of English is required; good command of Dutch is an advantage
* The Code of Insider Trading is applicable to this job. The job requires observing high ethical standards
* Broad understanding of controlling, finance, economics, legal and tax requirements
* Broad understanding of consolidation systems; linking pin between (IM) system experts and accounting experts; oversees system impact on accounting and vice versa
* Capable of managing a complex process, performed by a large group of professionals, directly and indirectly reporting to this person, under time pressure.
* Excellent communication skills, as there is frequent face to face and written contact with high level executives. This concerns not only acquiring their input, but also constant communication to make sure that we satisfy their expectations on reporting in the best possible way.
* Excellent project management skills
