Waste4ME was established in 2010, when its founders participated in the Dutch Military Innovation Competition, with the idea of turning waste into gas to save diesel on compounds. Waste4ME was a finalist, did not win, but got follow up contracts to develop a robust waste to energy technology with co-financing and development from the Dutch military. Initially, Waste4ME focused on decentralized waste management with local benefit. This solution-based approach made Waste4ME select a mature technology, adapt it and further develop it to the required robust solution that it offers now, the WER (waste reducer energy generator), certified in 2015.

The core technology of the WER is pyrolysis applied to turn waste into oil and gas. With new market developments, Waste4ME joined the Pyrolysis Cluster in 2016, to expand its business into chemical recycling. This enables WER users to process non-recyclable plastics and other materials into valuable input for chemical factories. The Waste4ME founders focus on developing and deploying technologies that are both commercially and socially viable to improve the world and add value to what would otherwise be considered waste.

Together with above mentioned Waste4ME contributes in to the plastic recycling industry by giving previously incinerated plastic waste a second life. Our company turns a global environmental problem into low-carbon products and valuable petrochemical products. Our solution also allows implementing sustainable waste disposal techniques and bridge intermittent energy supply in remote locations. WER unit is a mobile waste management tool based on pyrolysis technology. It is designed for tackling waste, where recycling is not feasible and where waste disposal is an issue. Thanks to its mobile nature, WER allows to avoid transport costs, electricity cost, gas boiler cost and gas for a boiler.

Waste4ME builds and operates chemical recycling plants for plastic waste starting with 35.000 tons per year and growing to bigger plants of 250.000 tons per year. The first plant is located in Moerdijk, the Netherlands. Our business case is based on technology that meets the strictest emission requirements. In addition, the economic business case is based on gate fee prices that are considerably lower than the current prices. In addition to this primary activity, we continue to sell our individual systems through dealers for countries that have a less developed waste collection and separation infrastructure and where landfill is now the only affordable solution. This comes in combination with expertise that we can provide as well as capacity sale for the parties with smaller waste flows.
