The global digital revolution is bringing prosperity to more and more countries and regions, benefiting millions of people. Data centers make this 21st century transformation possible and reliable systems and continuity are crucial. Haskoning is one of the five leading design and engineering firms in the data center industry and has a well-established Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Data Centre team that collaborates with some of the largest and most prominent data center providers and users across the globe, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the UK. Data centers are a strategic market for Haskoning, and the company aims to grow and establish innovative and sustainable data centers as one of its leading market sectors in the future. The company is expanding its business to support this growth and has many exciting opportunities for experienced and motivated professionals to join them in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, or South Africa.
What you do as a Lead Mechanical Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres)
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be working with some of the most demanding customers in the world and collaborating proactively with colleagues across the globe. Our MCF projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills beyond the standard features of a building. A proactive Lead Mechanical Engineer is what our clients need. They also require consultants and engineers who think along with them and increasingly demand more detailed designs in 3D up to working documentation level. You will be helping them with exactly that. Our Brown Field Services team is always working in a live Data Centre, and your daily work will include risk management, executing assessments, and testing and commissioning protocols. Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Managing and delivering mechanical work packages in multiple projects;
- Identifying the scope, design, and management objectives and delivering project documentation while ensuring the quality and flow of information required for contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Writing technical specifications and reports;
- Assisting the project manager in the preparation/review of project costs and risk assessments;
- Developing and maintaining vendor relationships ensuring continuous technical professional development. You will also review contractor pre-qualifications and prepared tender evaluation summaries for tender reviews, evaluate proposals and recommendations to the client regarding vendor selection, write technical specifications for tenders, represent Haskoning on factory acceptance tests and site testing & commissioning activities, and communicate the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team where your work will be cross borders, native and home based. In addition to participating in projects, you naturally also contribute to the optimization of our internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within your field. In this way, we continue to develop ourselves continuously.
