As an R&D Manager for Non-Ferrous materials, you will lead a team focused on developing advanced additives and fluxes for metals like aluminum, improving performance aspects such as cleanliness and grain refining. You will oversee testing procedures, drive innovation in additive development, and introduce new technologies from unrelated industries to enhance R&D efforts. Additionally, you will manage projects, communicate with the commercial team, and present findings, with occasional customer visits and international travel.

As an R&D Manager specializing in Non-Ferrous materials, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to developing next-generation additives and fluxes. The focus will be on meeting the ever-increasing performance requirements of non-ferrous metals, with a primary emphasis on aluminum, although other metals will also be considered. Key areas of focus will include cleanliness, grain refining, and other performance aspects tailored to customer needs in foundries and aluminum casthouses.
You will be responsible for developing and improving testing procedures to assess the quality and performance of non-ferrous castings, raw materials, and formulations within the laboratory environment. Your efforts will drive innovation and advancement in the field, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of additive and flux development.
In this role, you will introduce a new dimension to the development of non-ferrous additives by incorporating cutting-edge chemistry and materials science. You will guide the team to adopt a more fundamental, scientific approach to development. Additionally, you will possess the ability to recognize and evaluate valuable technologies from unrelated industries, leveraging them to benefit our R&D efforts. Independent thinking and the ability to work autonomously are crucial in this role.
You will also be asked to supervise and guide other projects as necessary, ensuring that they align with the overall vision and strategy. Effective communication with the commercial team is essential, as you will be required to regularly update them on the progress of relevant projects.
The role also involves presenting project updates, papers, and findings both internally and externally. Occasional customer visits and manufacturing site tours are expected, requiring both domestic and international travel.

Required Skills and Qualifications for R&D Manager Non-Ferrous
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled R&D Manager to lead the development of innovative solutions in the Non-Ferrous sector, with a focus on optimizing performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in metallurgy, material sciences, and chemistry, along with leadership experience in guiding R&D teams. This role offers the opportunity to drive advancements in additives, testing procedures, and technologies, while ensuring collaboration across various teams and sites.

  1. Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. degree in Material Sciences, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or related areas.
Experience:
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years in leading an R&D team within a commercial organization.
Knowledge:
  • Excellent knowledge in metallurgy, ceramics, and inorganic chemistry.
  • Preferably 5 years of experience in the Non-Ferrous area, with a strong understanding of control processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of casthouse operations, including metal casting processes and aluminum production environments.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in project management and leading projects.
  • Good communication skills in English (speaking/writing)
  • Good computer skills in MS office (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation), Email
