As the Proposal Lead for Electrical & Automation (E&A), you will oversee the conceptual and contract design of electrical and automation systems (such as power generation, propulsion, platform automation, cable installations, navigation systems, etc.) for cutting-edge naval vessels, ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements and regulations. You will work as the E&A Proposal Lead within a multidisciplinary tender team, where you will contribute innovative electrical and automation design solutions that align with commercially viable and appealing proposals. By combining your strong numerical expertise and excellent writing abilities, you will be able to present your figures and solutions in a convincing and well-substantiated manner, aiming to win over the client. Once the tender is successful, you will ensure a seamless handover of your work to the engineering department for further detailed engineering and implementation. Given that the engineering teams are based in different locations, you must be available for regular travel to those offices. The official job title for this position is Proposal Engineer Electrical & Automation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Your responsibilities in this role will include:

 Acting as the key point of contact for all electrical and automation-related matters within the Tender project team.  Leading a team of Electrical & Automation Tender Engineers.  Defining overall system architectures (e.g., Single Line Diagrams, Automation Architectures), along with power, weight, and cost estimations, electrical load balancing, and system configurations (including propulsion), as part of the design and tender documentation.  Contributing to requirements analysis, preparing engineering specifications, and supporting subcontractor quote requests and evaluations, focusing on preliminary equipment selection and budget allocation.  Assessing designs against established requirements and creating relevant reports.  Writing detailed technical documentation, contract specifications, and reports, ensuring clear communication of complex technical concepts and data to both customers and subcontractors.  Engaging in discussions with customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding technical and commercial aspects of the proposed solutions.  Assisting with cost evaluations provided by subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

 Over 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design, ideally in complex maritime or tender projects.  Experience in leading a small project team of engineers.  Exceptional writing skills, capable of delivering clear, compelling text, figures, and calculations detailing technical specifications and designs.  A commercial mindset that allows you to provide feasible and attractive technical and financial forecasts and proposals.  A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.  Proficiency in English, both written and verbal; knowledge of Dutch is preferred, and a willingness to learn Dutch is required.  Flexibility to travel abroad as needed.  Availability for regular travel to office locations in different cities.  Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
