Over deze vacature

As a Senior System Architect, you will be technically responsible for projects from inception to completion. You will visit customers to translate their requirements into topology scenarios, architectures, and concepts, and lead the technical activities through the V-model up to validation for volume production. This involves working on highly complex systems and modules in the semiconductor industry that need to be integrated into larger machines and factories. You will guide various teams of highly educated engineers, making risk-based decisions to keep the development process moving. In this role, you will lead, inspire, and coach teams across different phases to ensure the best solutions for our customers. You will have a high degree of independence and freedom in organizing your work.

You will be part of the Physics & Analysis competence group, where effective communication will be essential to translate cutting-edge physics into roadmaps. The technology fields you will work on include semiconductor stages and precise modules, substrate handling and conditioning, and high-dynamic systems in environments such as vacuum and cryogenics.

Your activities and responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary development teams (20-40 highly skilled technical employees) to ensure timely, in-spec delivery within budget.
  • Create topology, architectures, and concepts grounded in technical experience, translating these into actionable work breakdowns and specifications for specialized departments.
  • Collaborate closely with Physics engineers to understand and address their insights and challenges, fostering a cohesive team environment.
  • Take responsibility for planning and act as one team with the project manager.
  • Guide and coach multiple (lead) engineers and sub-architects in their daily routines to become more effective and knowledgeable.
  • Collaborate with group leaders on coaching engineers, improving design quality, and growing people into more mature technical roles.
  • Improve ways of working in architecture and all business and customer aspects together with other system architects.
  • Assist our CTO and Senior Architects with road mapping on different technologies and manage their implementation.
Wat we van jou verwachten
  • A Master’s degree or PhD in technical physics, mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, with a clear passion for physics demonstrated in your CV.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a similar role within the high-tech industry, with experience in designing and realizing mechatronic systems.
  • Proven applied physics experience at an academic level, including thermodynamics, magnetics, high voltage, plasma cleaning, flow dynamics, particle transport, vacuum design, FEM dynamics, and cathode development.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, alongside strong analytical skills and a pragmatic mindset.
  • The ability to balance conflicting stakeholder needs while maintaining clear communication, particularly with Physics engineers.
  • A strong sense of ownership and urgency, knowing when to escalate issues or seek assistance.
  • A high-energy, adaptable nature, with a self-motivated drive for learning and growth.
  • Proven skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal guidance, excelling in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks across engineering teams.
  • A motivational leadership style that inspires and encourages team growth while fostering a collaborative environment.
