Are you proficient at translating business needs into efficient and effective business intelligence solutions? We are seeking an analytical and proactive Functional Engineer for our Business Intelligence (BI) Service team.

As a Functional Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to design, implement, and maintain high-impact BI solutions, ensuring that data-driven insights are accessible, reliable, and aligned with business objectives. In this role, you’ll work on optimizing BI processes, translating business requirements into functional specifications, and ensuring BI solutions meet quality standards. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a strong understanding of BI tools, data structures, and reporting processes who can engage effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.

What will you do?

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these into clear, actionable requirements for BI solutions;
• Analyze business processes to identify BI opportunities that enhance reporting capabilities and improve data-driven decision-making;
• Document functional specifications for new BI features or updates, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements;
• Work closely with report builders to implement BI solutions, ensuring they align with functional specifications and meet quality standards;
• Close collaboration with data governance roles like master data management specialist, quality specialist and governance specialist to set and manage guidelines;
• Develop and perform testing procedures to validate BI solutions, ensuring data accuracy, functionality, and usability;
• Identify and troubleshoot issues in existing BI solutions, coordinating with technical teams to implement timely resolutions;
• Identify and implement potential improvements while developing and promoting reusable solutions and components;
• Provide support to end-users, assisting them in understanding and using BI tools and reports effectively;
• Monitor BI solution performance and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, usability, and alignment with business objectives;
• Stay updated on BI tools and best practices, recommending new approaches to meet evolving business needs.

What do we ask of you?

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience;
• At least 3 years of experience in functional BI, data analysis, or similar role;
• Proficient in BI Tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), SQL, and data structures;
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts is a plus;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and translate complex business requirements into functional solutions;
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders;
• Experience and/or affinity with Agile way of working;
• You are proficient in communication in English and preferably also Dutch;
• Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and data quality.
