This company based in Leiden operates within the biotechnology sector, focusing on research and development in life sciences.

Purpose:
The primary purpose of the role is to work as part of a team generating data that elucidates the biologic properties and functional activity of innate immune cell engaging, multiprotein complexes. This role will therefore require the development of skills in a range of cell biology and complex immunological techniques to explore the biology and immune-modulatory properties of such multiprotein innate engagers with regards to target cells but also in the wider immunological context involving members of the immune system in general.

Data generated from this work will contribute to platform discovery and early development of immune-oncology and immune-modulating therapeutics to ultimately support development of such therapies for use in Phase 1 clinical trials.

The role is laboratory based.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on experimental planning with scientists, execute and aid in the analysis of experiments.
  • Perform functional assessment of product candidates, including cell-based and immunological assays.
  • Maintain good communication with respective supervisor/project lead.
  • Participate in lab organisation, protocol and procedure drafting and participating in activities to maintain the lab working environment.
  • Conduct data analysis, generate rigorous scientific documentation including ELNs and reports and concise visual and oral presentations to communicate in research and project meetings.


Education/Experience:

  • Educated to at least BSc or MSc level in a relevant scientific area with at least 1 year’s laboratory experience, preferably in industry.
  • Practical experience of laboratory work, cell culture and cell-based functional assays.
  • Experience in primary human cell culture, would be advantageous.


Requirements:

  • Flexible, pragmatic, and practical, highly motivated to ensure that studies meet challenging timelines and able to propose practical, compromise solutions to problems.
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision, take the initiative when necessary, planning and managing multiple and varied tasks.
  • Commitment to high-quality research standards, with attention to detail and rigorous record keeping and data integrity.
  • Ability to work co-operatively with others, as part of a team, engaging constructively with colleagues at all levels to deliver objectives, using effective scientific communication skills
  • Enjoys working in a structured environment and is willing to comply with GDT Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
  • Good IT skills including confidence with use of scientific software.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours (evening and weekends when required) to fit with tissue/cell availability and separate locations to fit with team requirements.

This is a temporary position until the end of September due to an important project deadline. Extension may be possible, but cannot be guaranteed.
