Functieomschrijving

As the Subdepartment Manager for Combat Systems, you will oversee a team of approximately 20 employees within the Combat, Electrical & Automation (CE&A) Engineering department. Your role involves managing personnel, capacity, workflows, and tools to deliver exceptional engineering solutions. You will ensure that the right experts are assigned to the appropriate projects, driving business goals through strong leadership and ongoing improvements. In addition to your managerial duties, you will actively participate in engineering or proposal projects when needed.

Main responsibilities

• Leading the Combat Systems subdepartment and setting clear objectives for the team.• Overseeing resource distribution to guarantee project groups have the necessary skills and expertise.• Enhancing operational strategies, policies, and procedures to align with the department’s long-term vision.• Managing key line management tasks including resource planning, staff development, quality assurance, and budget control.• Playing an active role in engineering tasks or contributing to proposal development in your technical domain.• Establishing and nurturing strong collaborations both inside and outside the organization to support strategic aims.• Tracking and boosting team performance to create an effective and harmonious working atmosphere.• Supporting proposal evaluations and engaging in technical design discussions with a structured approach.• Encouraging knowledge exchange, innovation, and continuous refinement of processes across the department.• Ensuring compliance with all HSSEQ and engineering guidelines and protocols.• Creating and maintaining configuration management plans for naval-related projects.• Organizing project structures, master document registers, and managing data environments effectively.Functie-eisen
• A bachelor’s degree (EQF level 6) with 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree (EQF level 7) with 10 to 12 years in a technical discipline.• Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering, manufacturing, and integration of complex systems, preferably within maritime, electrical, or mechanical fields.• A strong grasp of engineering principles alongside financial and contract management knowledge.• Excellent interpersonal abilities to create and maintain productive partnerships.• Proficiency in both Dutch and English, spoken and written.• Flexibility to travel between locations in the Netherlands or internationally for project-related activities.Arbeidsvoorwaarden
