One of the responsibilities of the Software Engineering department within our Naval Engineering unit is the development of Combat & Information Management Systems for navy vessels and their integration with sensor and weapons systems. These complex systems incorporate advanced solutions in the field of information processing, information management, user interaction and sensor and weapons control. As such, our software offers essential support for missions ranging from combating piracy to defense against long-range missiles.
For its Naval Applications Engineering department, Thales (Hengelo) is looking for a talented
Software Test Automation Engineer
with a passion for software testing and the ambition to advance his or her career within a high-tech environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Software Test Engineer, you will work in a multidisciplinary and self-managing Agile/Scrum team. Our teams are not only responsible for the development of software products but also for a multitude of aspects such as requirements analysis, design, architecture, testing, validation, and regular product demonstrations. We place great value on the application of high-tech techniques and methods. Software development is based on Java and is supported by a modern development environment.
ABOUT YOU
Do you have a passion for technology and enjoy working on high-tech Naval Command & Control systems? Then you are the person we are looking for.
You have completed an HBO or WO degree in the field of Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- With your analytical mindset, you know how to detect errors, and you work together with the development teams to analyze these problems.
- As an individual, you are creative, open-minded, and flexible, and you can operate effectively as a team player.
- Additionally, you are results-oriented, show initiative, and communicate clearly.
- A good command of English language, in both spoken and written forms, is necessary for the effective performance of your duties (Dutch big plus).
You are a talented Software Test Engineer with a passion for testing complex software:
- You have a solid background in test engineering and automation with Java, including associated development methods, tooling, and frameworks.
- You are capable of quickly acquiring new domains and techniques.
- You distinguish yourself as an enthusiastic team player: open communication, collaboration-oriented, and you take responsibility for the team's results.
- You possess knowledge and experience in test automation with Java and testing methodologies such as Functional Testing, Exploratory Testing, Test Automation, and Unit Testing. Knowledge and experience with the following tools and techniques is a strong plus: Linux, Jenkins, Nexus, Maven/Gradle, GIT/SVN, and Continuous Integration & Delivery.
