About the role

As Product Area Lead, you will lead the Developer Experience product area within the DevEx and System Engineering tribe. This area focuses on:
Creating flow for developers so they can fully focus (flow state)
Automating repetitive tasks
Making it easy to find and reuse resources, through tools like a Command Line Interface, Developer Portal, and Software Catalogue
Building tools and practices that improve collaboration and communication between engineers (such as knowledge management, docs as code, collaboration tools)
Establishing a continuous learning and feedback loop, leading to more innovative solutions and faster problem-solving

Your responsibilities

Lead and manage the products and services within your product area
Ensure a clear and optimized Developer Experience (DX) through automation tools and processes (such as the Golden Path)
Make DX measurable and improve it using a data-driven approach
Work closely with other tribes within Engineering and Reliability to align strategies and ensure successful project execution
Pursue shared goals and build strong partnerships with the IT Area Lead and other stakeholders
Develop and maintain a strategic product roadmap
Clearly communicate the product vision through storytelling and confidently present product updates to diverse audiences
Apply senior-level expertise to guide and coach product managers in a collaborative, innovative environment
Set up and refine product management processes
Develop and share inspiring product narratives

Functie-eisen
10-15+ years of experience in software engineering, IT operations, and/or software architecture
Passion for engineering and a sharp understanding of what developers need to deliver quickly and with high quality
Strong product management skills: strategic thinking, OKRs, roadmapping, storytelling, communication, developing business cases
Experience with customer and market insights: understanding user needs, customer behavior, and market trends through research, analytics, and direct interaction
Expertise in product lifecycle management: from ideation to development, launch, and phase-out
Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making
Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructures and cloud-native concepts
Experience with modern engineering concepts like design patterns, domain-driven design, CI/CD, shift left/right, zero touch operations
Familiarity with tools like GitHub, Azure DevOps, Slack, Confluence, Maven, Gradle, Terraform, IntelliJ, Visual Studio Code
Plus: hands-on experience with modern programming languages (such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, Python)
Passion for innovation and driving efficiency within teams
Proven track record as an individual product manager, responsible for the value and viability of solutions
Ability to quickly learn new domains and a solid understanding of key business areas
Experience in coaching and developing team members
Clear understanding of the role as a coach for product managers, distinct from direct product management
Ability to communicate constructively and collaboratively with team members and leaders at all levelsSalary between €7,125 - €11,331
24-27 vacation days (depending on contract)
