As the Legal Counsel you are responsible for the professional handling of all legal topics within the Netherlands in close cooperation with the competent local business departments, in particular general contract law and property. Besides that you ensure a high-quality (lease) contract processing and legally correct administration of contracts according to the relevant national laws in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, and external lawyers in the Netherlands. Furthermore you ensure compliance of the overall business operations with all applicable laws, in particular corporate, general contract, consumer and ESG law in the Netherlands. In this stand-alone position you report directly to the General Counsel EU and CFO (blx).

Your responsibilities
  • Process all kinds of contracts in the Netherlands;
  • Act as a contact point for contract partners to avoid problems, unnecessary cost and prevent damage to the company;
  • Participate and contribute with input in elaboration of general requirements for leases to ensure a professional lease contract system;
  • Ensure liaison with internal and external stakeholders such as lawyers, department managers, management board etc, to ensure flawless and legally correct processes;
  • Maintain the company contract database te ensure correct and accessible storage for all lease contracts;
  • Integrate European guidelines and install contracts in the assigned market toensure legal systems that harmonize with other markets;
  • Optimize processes and structures within the legal department to ensure fast and correct legal processes;
  • Secure a correct legal processing of all contracts regarding rent to ensure perfect processing internally and with the landlords;
  • Ensure professional corporate housekeeping and provide corporate governance advice for Dutch legal entities of the group;
  • Ensure compliance of the business operations with all applicable laws, in particular consumer law and ESG law in the Netherlands;
  • Provide legal advice to the local management team and all other internal stakeholders on Dutch law;
  • Work on pan-European projects and legal matters in collaboration with legal colleagues from other markets.
What you bring
  • University degree in law, preferably bar exam;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal department or a law firm;
  • Current knowledge of legal procedures and related laws;
  • Good understanding of Dutch and international legal prerequisites especially for rental contracts, corporate law, consumer law and ESG law;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with knowledge of MS Office
  • Fluent in local business language and good at business English, oral and written
