Our client is a leading player in the food industry, known for delivering high-quality consumer products and continuously improving their production processes. At one of their dynamic production sites, a wide range of dairy products are made daily to meet changing market demand.
 
About the Role
As an Automation Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing and securing the automation network infrastructure at a large-scale production facility. You’ll be responsible for maintaining industrial network systems, implementing access control solutions, and aligning automation network architecture with IT security standards. This cross-functional role is ideal for someone with strong experience in industrial networking, access management, and the integration of automation systems with IT environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize OT network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, VLANs, DMZs).
• Implement Identity & Access Management solutions within OT environments.
• Design and manage OT/IT segmentation and network security architectures.
• Maintain OT-related hardware, including switches, routers, badge readers, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
• Support and document OT network design and implementation projects.
• Act as a technical point of contact during audits and security incidents.
• Contribute to OT security initiatives such as PAM implementation and monitoring.

Requirements

• MBO+/HBO degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, IT, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in OT or IT/OT environments, preferably in manufacturing.
• Solid knowledge of industrial networking (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP) and access control protocols (e.g., RADIUS, VLAN tagging, ACLs).
• Familiarity with OT architectures, segmentation, and troubleshooting across OSI layers.
• Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM), DMZ design, and basic PLC configurations is a plus.
• Fluent in Dutch; strong English communication skills are required.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, ISA/IEC 62443) are a strong advantage.
