Are you passionate about cutting-edge yacht design and ready to shape the next generation of superyachts?
Our client, a renowned leader in high-end yacht design, is looking for a Naval Architect with a strong foundation in ship theory, buoyancy, and marine engineering. This is a pivotal role that requires both technical expertise and a creative mindset, as you'll be involved in the design, development, and delivery of sophisticated yachts that embody both performance and elegance.
You will be responsible for developing ship designs in both 2D and 3D using tools like Rhino, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, and DelftShip. Your tasks will include drafting hulls and layouts, performing hydrostatics and stability calculations, and conducting trim and heeling tests to ensure optimal vessel performance under various loading conditions.
Beyond technical design, you will apply your understanding of international regulations (such as IMO, MARPOL, and SOLAS for yachts over 500GT) and work according to classification society standards like Lloyd’s and DNV. Collaboration is key: you’ll work closely with engineers from multiple disciplines, as well as interior designers and clients, to ensure that every project is a true fusion of function and style.
This is a role for someone who can think holistically—from concept to launch—who brings innovation, attention to detail, and a passion for excellence in every aspect of their work.
- MSc or BSc in Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Shipbuilding.
- Proven experience in yacht or complex vessel design; luxury yacht experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of buoyancy, hydrostatics, and ship stability principles.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D design tools such as Rhino, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, and DelftShip.
- Familiarity with classification society rules (Lloyd’s, DNV, etc.) and IMO/MARPOL/SOLAS regulations.
- Ability to contribute to hydrodynamic optimization (drag, hull shape, fuel use).
- Effective communicator, able to work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and clients.
- Demonstrated passion for innovation, aesthetics, and high-end design.
