The assignment
Develop a web-based visualization to allow users to initiate and manage PLC application simulations on an Azure VM. The visualization will enable users to search for and select a released PLC application from Bitbucket, which will trigger the creation and execution of a simulation. The system supports running multiple simulations concurrently, with up to 10 active simulations at a time.
What you’ll be doing:
We are developing PLC machine application that are processed through a build pipeline. This pipeline contains an application that scans the complete project to inventory the hardware, firmware and runtimes, libraries etc. used, storing this information in an Azure database. The next phase of the project involves building a web-based visualization module to display and interact with this data. The project will need to ensure compliance with NIS regulations, triggering alerts when insecure hardware or firmware is detected.
Technical goals
- Connect the web application to an Azure database to retrieve and display project data. (Investigate in using KeyVaults for connstring and certificates)
- Implement MVVM architecture for a clean separation of concerns and maintainable code.
- Create an interactive and user-friendly visualization interface.
- Develop features for notifying users when hardware or firmware is marked as insecure.
Organizational goals
- Improve project transparency by providing real-time visual feedback on project hardware and firmware status.
- Enhance the ability of project teams and departments to track and respond to hardware vulnerabilities.
- Promote collaboration across teams for effective data collection and visualization needs.
Definition of Done
- Requirements are gathered from project teams, project leaders, and departments.
- The MVVM web application is fully connected to the Azure database and can display project data as required.
- Security triggers and notifications for insecure hardware/firmware are implemented and functional.
- The application meets all specified technical and organizational goals.
- Documentation for the web application and its features is completed.
Who are we?
With 7,500 employees spread across more than 30 countries, Marel has developed into an international market leader in advanced processing systems, software, and services for the poultry, meat, and fish industries. Our mission is to develop, build, deliver, and maintain machines and production lines that enable our customers to produce high-quality food in an affordable and sustainable way. As an employer we offer you the space to grow, explore your own ideas, and truly make a difference.
What do we offer?
We offer a meaningful assignment! An assignment where you can make a difference and significantly contribute to the success of our organization. Additionally, you can expect:
- Insights in one of the leading companies in the food industry
- Space for both personal and professional development
- A friendly team with a pleasant, family-like working atmosphere
- The possibility to work partly from home
- An internship allowance of €400,- based on a full-time basis (40 hours per week)
- Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer
Who are you?
The intern will work with the project teams, project leaders, and departments to gather requirements for the visualization features. Based on this information, they will then design and implement a web application using the MVVM pattern. The application will connect to an Azure database to display the project data and provide interactive visualizations. A key requirement is to implement security features, such as triggers and notifications, to alert users when hardware or firmware is marked insecure according to NIS standards.
Competences needed
- Proficiency in developing web applications, ideally using MVVM architecture in C# (preferably in .NET technologies).
- Familiarity with Azure SQL databases and web services for backend communication.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Strong communication skills for gathering requirements from cross-functional teams.
- Studies: Software engineering/ Informatica or similar studies.
- Proficient in both Dutch and English.
