We are looking for Lead Mechanical Design Engineers to join the R&D Mechanical Development department at ASML!

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of specific mechanical functions. You will work closely with the architect, team lead, and (junior) designers to deliver reliable, stable, safe, contamination-free, cost-effective, and easy-to-manufacture/service products.

You will operate within a multidisciplinary project environment, leading one or more designers in your team, and collaborating cross-functionally with Lead Engineers, Architects, and System Engineers.

• Design one or more products as part of a small team of mechanical experts in a project setting.

• Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design quality.

• Specify and design modules and related components supporting various (sub)systems.

• Provide technical leadership by defining solutions, guiding engineers, and managing supplier feedback.

• Apply mechanical construction principles accurately and consistently.

• Contribute to the qualification of designs by specifying and executing required tests.

• Design and realize test setups and equipment; ensure prototypes are built and thoroughly tested.

• Ensure complete and accurate technical product documentation and support implementation for manufacturing and field service.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a specialization in Precision Engineering, Microengineering, or Nanoengineering.

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a complex technical environment, including leading a design team.
• Expert-level knowledge of mechanical engineering principles is essential.
• Strong skills in clear, technical communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling, preferably with Siemens NX (UG/NX).
• Familiarity with precision engineering, ergonomics, dynamics, mechatronics, high-precision alignment, positioning, and fixation solutions is an advantage.
