Optiver is on an exciting transformation journey across our Enterprise Technology stack. We’re looking for a dynamic and ambitious leader to join our global team and build our new enterprise data platform from the ground up. As a Senior Enterprise Data Lead, you will have a direct, hands-on role in establishing best-in-class data practices, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, and significantly influencing the future of our data-driven decision-making processes. Ideal candidates will thrive in environments where they can pioneer, innovate, and drive tangible impact across business operations and strategic initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Architect and launch Optiver’s new enterprise data platform on Databricks Lakehouse, setting the technical vision, design standards, and roadmap.
• Build and automate high-quality data pipelines end-to-end—leveraging tools like Fivetran for ingestion and dbt + PySpark notebooks for ELT—so that business-critical data is reliable, timely, and ready for analytics.
• Define and automate governance, security, testing, and monitoring across the full SDLC (IaC, CI/CD, lineage).
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small global squad of data engineers (2-5 people), providing hands-on technical guidance while developing their skills and career paths.
• Partner deeply with Business Applications and Business Intelligence leads to translate rough business problems into scalable data products and actionable dashboards.
• Champion an enterprise data strategy—evangelizing best practices, establishing community standards, and acting as the go-to expert for stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Continuously scout, evaluate, and pilot emerging data-platform capabilities (e.g., Delta Live Tables, Lakehouse AI features) to keep Optiver at the cutting edge.
• Measure and communicate impact, tying platform metrics and delivered use cases to business outcomes to secure ongoing buy-in and investment.

WHO YOU ARE

• Seasoned data leader with 8 + years building and operating enterprise-scale platforms—and at least three of those years spent launching them from a greenfield start
• Entrepreneurial problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity; you take loosely defined goals, craft a vision, and deliver measurable business impact
• Hands-on technologist who still writes PySpark and SQL daily, eager to jump into notebooks and debug pipelines side-by-side with the team
• Cloud Lakehouse expert fluent in Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Fivetran, and dbt, with certifications (or equivalent mastery) to back it up.
• Architecture evangelist who instinctively applies dimensional, data-vault, and other modeling patterns—and can explain the trade-offs to non-technical peers.
• Governance-minded process champion who embeds security, privacy, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and automated testing into every design.
• Curious technologist who tracks emerging Lakehouse features, open-source tools, and industry trends—always looking for the next lever of competitive advantage.
