A leading international company in the offshore energy sector is seeking a skilled Lead Project Engineer to join their team in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. This full-time role involves overseeing engineering activities for offshore power cable installation projects. Candidates must already reside in the Netherlands due to the location and nature of the work.
The Lead Project Engineer will take charge of engineering coordination within a multidisciplinary team focused on offshore wind farm cable installation. This includes cable laying, burial, and repair operations for both in-field and export cables. The role involves guiding engineers, managing technical documentation, and ensuring smooth communication between all stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading engineering efforts and managing interfaces between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Supporting engineers with technical planning and problem-solving.
- Coordinating detailed calculations with internal and external specialists.
- Participating in client meetings and managing expectations related to engineering.
- Attending vessel mobilizations and demobilizations, and conducting project briefings.
- Ensuring all engineering work meets high standards of quality and follows internal documentation protocols.
- While the position is based in Dordrecht, partial remote work is possible. Occasional travel to offshore vessels may be required. The company offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to grow in areas such as subsea construction, IRM, geophysical and geotechnical surveys, and UXO operations.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Offshore Energy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in offshore power cable installation.
- Proven leadership and interface management skills within engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be currently living in the Netherlands.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and work partly remotely.
- Hands-on, safety-conscious, and a collaborative team player.
