Fulltime / parttime, 32 – 38 hours per week
As an e-commerce Customer Insights Data Analyst, you'll be a driving force behind one of the most exciting digital transformations in European retail. You will shape the future of our fast-growing webshop, helping us build a best-in-class online experience through actionable customer insights.
As the dedicated analyst for our web shop, you’ll work in a Scrum environment with a modern analytics stack including Databricks, Google BigQuery, and Looker Studio. You’ll have high autonomy, the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, and the room to grow your skills every day. Your insights will directly impact how we grow online.
Some examples of your tasks:
• Analyse customer journeys from start to finish: from online traffic and clickstreams to conversions, returns, and long-term value
• Advise on tracking implementations and data collection strategies to ensure clean, reliable input
• Aggregate and model datasets to enable forecasting, basket analysis, and other machine learning applications
• Develop impactful dashboards and reports that guide key decisions in online merchandising, marketing, and operations
• Support KPI setting and performance evaluations to help teams stay focused and aligned
• Collaborate across teams – other Data Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, Marketers and the Controlling Team - to make sure data insights lead to action
• Monitor digital KPIs such as conversion rate, average order value, and bounce rate to identify friction points and opportunities
• Continuously improve segmentation and personalization strategies through A/B testing and data-backed recommendations
You’ll be part of a close-knit, forward-looking team that values independence, collaboration, and innovation. And since the web shop is still in its early stages, your role will have high visibility and real influence on our digital roadmap.
With tens of millions of fans across Europe, we keep surprising them week after week. We are constantly expanding the Action brand using a data-driven approach and by working in agile teams.
Customer Insights is a crucial part of Action’s business strategy and plays a key role in continuously improving the customer experience. This team focuses on collecting and analysing customer data to gain in-depth insight into our customers’ buying behaviour and preferences.
The team explores patterns and trends in customer data, leading to valuable insights. These insights are then used strategically to optimise our product selection, marketing initiatives, and shopping and online experience.
Our biggest challenge? One voice and one format, online and in more than 2,500 stores in 13 different countries. Learning new things every day and working with the best colleagues to make our popular brand even more successful is what makes us happy. Does this apply to you, too?
You’re curious, hands-on, and eager to uncover the story behind the numbers. You don’t just write SQL, you think like a product owner, challenge assumptions, and bring clarity through data. You work independently, enjoy connecting with other teams, and love turning data into better customer experiences.
In addition:
• Extensive experience writing SQL queries and performing exploratory data analysis
• Familiar with Google BigQuery, Looker Studio, and Databricks
• Comfortable communicating in English in a cross-functional, international environment
• Strong data storytelling skills to turn complexity into actionable insight
• Preferably, experience with Python for scripting or analysis
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum setup is a plus
• Basic understanding of digital marketing metrics or e-commerce tooling (like GA4, GTM, or Meta Ads) is an advantage
Surprisingly much! From our international headquarters in the Netherlands you have an impact on what happens in our stores across Europe. We welcome more than 15 million customers every week in more than 3,000 stores in 13 European countries. We have great growth ambitions. For Action and for you. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different position, an interesting innovation project, new skills: you can continue to develop as a professional. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost conscious and respect.
Did you know that you can also count on us for:
- A market-based salary based on a 38-hour work week
- 24 days of holiday and the option to buy 5 extra days (based on 38 hours per week)
- A fixed contract with the intention of offering you a permanent contract in the long term
- Flexible working hours and the possibility of working up to 40% from home, of course in coordination with your team and manager
- 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
- A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel expenses allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is traffic jam-free and only 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam)
If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you come and work with us. We work hard to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,500 children worldwide who grow up in an SOS Children's Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 155 different nationalities? That we purchase 94% of our wood products and 100% of our cotton sustainably? And that almost all our stores only use energy-efficient LED lighting? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
