As part of the Royal and global dairy cooperative, the company specializes in crafting traditional Dutch cheeses (such as Gouda and Edam) and premium butter, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and export excellence.
About the site
The site in Meppel is part of one of the largest dairy cooperatives in the world and together with 235 colleagues we produce high-quality fat powders for the B2B and infant nutrition industry. With a product portfolio of approximately 250 different recipes, the ingredients are used in a wide range of end products such as coffee creamers, soup mixes, sauce mixes, cake mixes and whipped cream applications.
Role Description
It is a dynamic and challenging job! In the role of HSE Manager, you are one of the most important people at this production location; you are jointly responsible for the safety and health of your direct colleagues and the environment. In this role, you also find yourself in a complex stakeholder field; from plant manager to government agencies to the experienced operator on the line. Together with the plant manager, your colleagues and the local management team, you are busy every moment of the day making our production location even safer, even healthier and even more sustainable.
The position of HSE Manager is ideally suited for an ambitious professional who likes challenges. Every day is different and you can really make a difference with us. Below are a number of specific characteristics belonging to this position:
Responsibilities
Management advice and support:
-Proactively advising plant management (PM) on safety, health and environment (SHE);
-Representing the SHE function in the Management Team;
-Creating support for SHE strategies and action plans.
SHE strategy and management:
-Developing a strategic plan for SHE and sustainability;
-Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and ISO standards.
-Developing and maintaining SHE policy, systems and standards;
-Performing RI&E and monitoring the follow-up of actions;
-Translating (inter)national legislation into local guidelines.
-Issue and crisis management
-Managing risk analyses and issue registrations;
-Coordinating crisis approach and communication in the event of incidents.
Stakeholder management:
-Maintaining internal contacts and participating in relevant forums;
-Maintaining contacts with external stakeholders such as governments, NGOs and auditors;
-Supporting the development of corporate policy.
Project management and budget and personnel management:
-Manage the SHE project portfolio within time and budget.
-Manage the SHE budget and report on progress;
-Manage and coach the SHE Specialist.
Requirements
-HBO work and thinking level, preferably a relevant field of study such as safety/environment/technology, engineering or management;
-A completed HVK training or integral safety science IVK or Management of Safety, Health & Environment MoSHE;
-Demonstrable experience in a comparable SHE role within a production environment;
-Experience with ISO systems, RI&E processes and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (national and international);
-Experience with crisis management, stakeholder management and skills in project management and budget management.
