Job description
In today's world, important issues such as climate change, inequality, food security and accessible healthcare are becoming ever more burning. Large institutional investors can make a huge positive contribution to these matters, simply by the volumes of capital, and therefore influence, they have at their disposal. Our company is a growing young company that helps (and closely collaborates with!) these parties to identify how sustainable investable companies are (or how unsustainable). As a result of our work, very large investors worldwide are able to invest in those companies that contribute positively to our planet. Our rating system uses a taxonomy based on the UN Sustainable development goals, is objective and transparent, and fully data driven.

We are looking for a consultant/analyst SDI (Sustainable Development Investment). This role is an excellent opportunity to enable large financials to invest in sustainable companies. You will engage with sustainability managers of these financials to improve the ground rules and elaborate on company assessments.
Additionally you will support and correct junior analysts in evaluating companies. Finally you are involved in extending the SDI products and improve the sustainable knowledgebase we provide to clients.

Activities & responsibilities
- Validating quality of company classifications based on SDI (Sustainable Development Investment)
- Organizing classification process, instructing junior employees
- Stakeholder management with clients and their investment researchers.
- improving classification system: taxonomy, system of classification rules
- Specifying functional requirements for software developers
- Assisting in the development, implementation and marketing of new SDI products

• Team of data scientist (PhDs) and sustainability experts (MSc) scanning and classifying vast amounts of unstructured data from various sources, e.g. webpages, annual reports and trade descriptions
• Gaining insight: to what extent do companies contribute to the SDGs
• Automation where possible, human validation if needed

Use smart techniques in the responsible investment process
• Increasingly automating inefficient, resource-intensive manual assessments of SDIs
• Feeding new insights back into the SDI assessment process
• Generating consistent and auditable information on investing in the SDGs
• Developing new ways and metrics to measure the sustainability of companies

What we are looking for
The ideal Sustainable investment analyst/consultant has the following characteristics:
- Academic background: University Master's degree
- Good communication skills
- Proven analytical skill is a prerequisite
- Affinity for working with data (e.g. analyzing spreadsheets, querying databases)
- Eye for detail
- Background in sustainability in relation to finance, ESG reporting, consulting, etc.
- Ability to organize highly structured/auditable processes
- Managing small team: provide guidance, instructions, planning work
- Excellent and fluent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Pragmatic, getting things done
