Principal Software Engineer Amsterdam • Fygi

We are expanding our team with a Principal Software Engineer to help build and scale our cloud platform and mobile app. Our technology is used to predict shelf life and prevent food waste, and we’re preparing for large-scale rollouts at some of the biggest food retailers worldwide. Exciting times ahead! 

We’re focused on creating a smooth user experience at scale and ensuring high uptime. Your main focus will be to take technical ownership of our web frontend and DevOps platform. You'll help guide architecture, mentor developers, and build high-performance systems with real-world impact. While you won’t be building backend systems, an affinity with C# and .NET is useful, as you will work closely with our backend engineers. 

Responsibilities:

• Own and evolve the architecture of our web portal, mobile app and CI/CD infrastructure. 
• Collaborate closely with our backend (.NET/C#) and hardware teams to ensure seamless data flow and feature development. 
• Mentor and support our developers in frontend best practices, testing, and performance. 
• Implementing automated tests for your components and features. 
• Lead implementation of key frontend features using modern frameworks (Next.js, React, etc.) 
• Leading code reviews, technical design sessions and agile ceremonies 
• Drive DevOps excellence—automating, testing, and monitoring with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) 
• Champion usability and accessibility to ensure our platform is intuitive for customers worldwide. 

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, including tech leadership or platform architect roles. 
• Deep knowledge of modern web development (e.g., Next.js, React, Vue, TypeScript, Tailwind, etc.). 
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). 
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS). 
• The ability to mentor others and develop a technical vision, experience preferably gained in a start-up or scale-up environment. 
• Familiarity with .NET APIs is a plus, but not mandatory.

Location:

Amsterdam or Enschede. Expect to work in the office 1-2 days per week minimum to collaborate with the team and test setups. 

Working hours: work when you work at your best, but be available for our team meetings.
