Role Description
About the Role Due to expansion at our Leiden facility, Johnson & Johnson is seeking skilled All-round Maintenance Technicians to support 24/7 production operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted production by handling first-line technical issues and preventive maintenance. You’ll join a dynamic, multicultural team, supporting both production and utility systems in a high-tech, regulated environment focused on pharmaceutical innovation. Key
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve first-line mechanical and electrical breakdowns in production and utility systems.
- Identify root causes and escalate complex issues to the appropriate departments.
- Perform preventive maintenance and support equipment improvements.
- Participate in team briefings and prioritize daily work orders in coordination with operations.
- Work with technical documentation and contribute to compliance reporting (GMP, safety, SOPs).
- Occasionally support building installation maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety, quality, and GMP standards
- Minimum MBO 4 in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
- MBO 3 may be considered with solid hands-on experience.
- Bachelor’s degree is acceptable if clearly motivated to pursue a hands-on technician role long-term.
- No Master’s degree holders, as this is a fully practical role.
- Fluent in Dutch (mandatory) and good command of English.
- Valid Category B driver’s license (especially important for night shifts).
- Willingness to commit long-term (learning curve can take up to 2 years).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a demanding technical environment
- Combined mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Able to identify electrical faults (e.g., open POCs, understand VFD operations, basic PLC diagnostics).
- Familiarity with industrial production environments (pharma, food, chemicals, or similar).
- Experience with small biochemical reactors and utility systems is a strong plus. Ability to interpret and work with technical documentation.
- GMP experience
- Background in oil & gas
- Familiarity with MES, LIMS, CDS, or automation systems
- Basic understanding of PLCs (no programming required)
- Collaborative team-based structure (5-week shift rotation model: 3-4-3).
- Teams consist of utility operators and multi-skilled maintenance technicians.
- Exposure to advanced pharmaceutical systems, continuous learning, and personal development opportunities.
- Use of company vehicles during work hours; personal commute is your own responsibility
