Are you someone who can take a deep dive into an insurer's balance sheet and risk profile, uncover key developments, and explain them with clarity? Do you thrive in a dynamic, ambitious environment that's poised for growth? If so, we want to hear from you!

What you need to know about us

We are Athora Netherlands, an insurance company with the well-known brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. We are mainly involved in pensions and life insurance in the Dutch market. We are part of a European group with offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and Italy. We are a strong company with over one million customers and we want to grow into one of the most important players in the rapidly changing pension market in the coming years. That is why we are looking for people who are not afraid of change, who are getting things done, who have the ambition to achieve results and who therefore know how to get the best out of themselves and their team. Smarter together, we call it.

What are you going to do?

As a Capital and Balance Sheet Reporting Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in connecting past performance, future projections, and scenario analyses across all reporting regimes-IFRS, Economic, Solvency II, and Tax. Your insights will directly support strategic decision-making on solvency and capital generation.

You'll be part of the Actuarial Capital & Balance Sheet Reporting team at Athora Netherlands-a team of 17 professionals responsible for delivering integrated risk analyses and steering reports to internal and external stakeholders, including risk committees, the board, our shareholder (Athora), and balance sheet management.

Our responsibilities include ORSA stress testing, (EIOPA) Stress tests, reporting on the Risk Appetite Statement, and identifying drivers behind movements in Solvency II (including the economic framework) and IFRS 17/9. Our scope covers the broader Asset-Liability Management (ALM) domain-encompassing all risk types (insurance, market, counterparty, LACDT) and balance sheet elements (assets and liabilities). We adopt both forward- and backward-looking approaches, consolidating figures from various sources and are completing the balance sheet and risk profile valuations for market risks, counterparty defaults, LACDT, and non-market-to-market assets such as mortgages. Additionally, we contribute to assumption setting, including the determination of economic assumptions.

As a Capital and Balance Sheet Reporting Analyst, your duties will include:

  • Delivering accurate and timely risk reports

  • Identifying, analyzing and explaining key developments and their impact

  • Driving continuous process and tooling improvements

  • Share knowledge and collaborate across teams

  • Consolidating and completing results for Solvency, Economic, and IFRS reporting

  • Analyzing results, identifying drivers of movements, and reporting these in external (e.g., SFCR) and internal reports (e.g., ORSA, internal SII & IFRS reports)

  • Serving as a point of contact within the (actuarial) reporting chain (bottom-up) and reporting to the Board, DNB, and shareholders (top-down) #LI-DNI

What do we ask from you?
  • Actuary (AAG) or a Master's degree in Econometrics, Actuarial Science, or related field, with plans to qualify as an Actuary AAG or equivalent

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills

  • Located in the Netherlands

Competencies:

You are eager to learn and develop, collaborative, proactive, and capable of managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines. You combine sharp analytical thinking with a strategic overview, and you can distill complex information into simple, clear messages. You think conceptually but act practically, balancing attention to detail with a global perspective

In this role, you will find a challenging and impactful position within a supportive, international team. We offer a flexible, hybrid working environment that promotes a healthy work-life balance, along with opportunities for personal and professional development. Our modern office is located at The Edge West, conveniently near Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. Additionally, you will be part of a culture that values trust, enthusiasm, and continuous improvement.

What do you get from us?

You get about 900 colleagues who all think they work for a special company. You will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the socially relevant theme of pensions. We make sure that your pension is well taken care of so you can enjoy a carefree retirement.

You will have the opportunity to really make a difference when it comes to sustainability, because we have a leading role in our business operations and investments for years. Of course, you will get a (flexible) workplace at one of our offices that are among the best 7% in the world. And because you also work regularly from home, you will receive a budget to set up your home office properly.

In exchange for your commitment, talent and skills, next to your salary, a holiday allowance and a thirteenth month, you will receive 27 vacation days (with a 36-hour contract) and a public transport card or travel allowance for the days you come to the office. And, not unimportantly, we think, you will receive a training budget, so that you can continue to develop yourself. This gives you the opportunity to grow, within our company or beyond.

Salary per month: based on CLA scale 18, the range is € 6.881,45 to € 9.175,26 based on 36 hours.
