Job Description
We have a vacancy for a Microbiological Analyst to work at MARS Nederland BV in Veghel (the Netherlands).
Are you an expert in microbiological analysis with a passion for food safety and quality?

We're looking for a dedicated Microbiological Analyst to join the Regional Micro Laboratory of MARS.
In this role, you will be a key player in ensuring the quality of the products by performing both classical and molecular microbiological analyses. Your daily work will involve testing a variety of samples, including in-process materials, finished products, and environmental samples.

This is more than just a lab job; it's an opportunity to apply your skills in a state-of-the-art facility where compliance and accuracy are paramount. You will be instrumental in upholding the Global Laboratory Quality Standards of Mars and ISO 17025 accreditation.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform timely and accurate microbiological testing using both traditional culture and advanced molecular techniques.
Master aseptic techniques, sample preparation, homogenization, and serial dilutions.
Record and maintain detailed documentation of all test results and traceability in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Work collaboratively with your team, maintaining open communication and confidentiality.
Maintain documentation and records according to Regional Lab Quality.

Job requirements

MLO or HLO (Bachelor degree) in (food-) microbiology
>2 or more years’ experience with microbiological analyses in food or related industries (advanced education may partially substitute for required experience).
Experience working in a production environment
Working knowledge of ISO 17025

Terms of employment

We offer you a challenging position in an innovative and dynamic environment.
The position is based on a secondment agreement at MARS Nederland BV, with a trial period of 2 months, the possibility of extension, and the potential for a contract with the company.
After the initial two-month period, for 20 hours a week, we will discuss the possibility of a long-term collaboration, where the position could be extended to 36 hours per week.

We offer a competitive salary of up to €4,100 gross per month (based on a 40-hour work week).

The lab operates 7 days a week, and this role may require you to work in shifts. The shifts take place during regular office hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM). There will be additional compensation for shift work.
