Vacancy information

You will be part of the engineering team that is tasked with making necessary adjustments and solving technical issues related to an existing nuclear reactor. 

As a Electrical and Instrumentation engineer, you will apply your technical knowledge across various phases of a project. For this role, the focus will be greater on instrumentation part, rather than control. 

Engineering challenges within the Nuclear Laboratories typically involve a combination of the following:

  • Designing and/or modifying nuclear systems and peripheral equipment
  • Providing support for operational or maintenance activities within the facilities and their support systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards
  • Planning, facilitating, monitoring, and managing the progress and quality of projects and design changes to the installation
  • Interacting with suppliers regarding project-related services and/or equipment, and building and maintaining relationships with suppliers
  • Writing and reviewing technical documentation, such as design frameworks, drawings, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), SATs (Site Acceptance Tests), SITs (Site Integration Tests), implementation plans, and risk assessments
  • Providing support to other departments within NRG in your area of expertise
  • Identifying and capitalizing on commercial opportunities for internal and external customers
What do you need
  • You have a university-level (WO) education and work experience in engineering within the technical sector (Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with nuclear installations and associated standards and guidelines is a plus.
  • You are capable of conceptual thinking and approaching problems from a broad perspective, considering existing safety analyses, business strategies, etc.
  • Preferably, you have experience with one or more of the following systems: industrial automation systems, HVAC systems, fire detection and suppression systems, security installations, and the associated standards and guidelines.
  • Experience with low-voltage power distribution and related calculations.
  • You have an affinity for and/or experience with preparing technical dossiers.
  • You have an affinity for and/or knowledge of process instrumentation and control systems, and, if possible, knowledge of (PLC) programming techniques.
  • Experience using design codes and/or designing according to applicable (machinery) guidelines and standards (such as IEC, ISO, NEN).
  • You are a team player with a high safety awareness, combining motivation with a desire to learn.
  • You are detail-oriented with a solution-focused mindset.
  • You possess strong social and written communication skills.
  • You are willing to develop your skills in a nuclear environment and take ownership of projects and assignments entrusted to you
