Mainframe DB2 Associste Manager - Remote/ International

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe DB2 Specialist with 10 to 20 years of Mainframe experience. The technical focus is on DB2 for z/OS system administration and DBA activities, performance tuning, backup and recovery, DB2 utilities, and migration from CA DB2 tooling to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.

Working environment

You will work in an international, English-speaking Mainframe environment, collaborating with application teams, z/OS engineers and infrastructure specialists.

• Location: fully remote / international.
• Hours: 40 hours per week.
• Working hours: 08:30-17:00 CET.
• Working language: English.
• Joining preference: immediate availability.

What will you do

1. Install, configure and maintain DB2 subsystems on z/OS.
2. Perform DB2 upgrades, migrations and subsystem configurations.
3. Manage DB2 objects including databases, tablespaces, tables and indexes.
4. Monitor DB2 performance and optimise SQL queries and access paths.
5. Perform performance tuning using DB2 tools and utilities.
6. Execute DB2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, COPY and RECOVER.
7. Design and maintain backup and recovery processes and ensure database integrity and availability.
8. Provide L2/L3 technical support, perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
9. Implement DB2 changes through CAB processes and support deployments, releases and database migrations.
10. Manage DB2 security and access controls and support audit and compliance requirements.
11. Monitor DB2 storage, buffer pools and resource utilisation and support capacity planning.
12. Collaborate with application teams, z/OS engineers and infrastructure teams.
13. Support migrations from CA DB2 tools/software to IBM DB2 tools and utilities.

What do you bring

Must haves

1. 10 to 20 years of relevant Mainframe experience.
2. Strong hands-on experience with DB2 on z/OS at System and DBA level.
3. Product migration experience from CA tools/software to IBM tools/software.
4. Experience with CA Fast Check for DB2 for z/OS and migration to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
5. Experience with CA Fast Index for DB2 for z/OS and migration to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
6. Experience with CA Fast Load for DB2 for z/OS and migration to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
7. Experience with CA Fast Recover for DB2 for z/OS and migration to IBM DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS.
8. Strong knowledge of DB2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, COPY and RECOVER.
9. Expertise in SQL tuning and performance optimisation.
10. Familiarity with z/OS, JCL and SDSF.
11. Experience with DB2 tools including SPUFI, QMF and DB2 Admin Tool.
12. Fluent spoken and written English.

1. Experience with DB2 capacity planning, buffer pool monitoring and resource optimisation.
2. Experience with DB2 security and access controls.
3. Experience supporting DB2 audit and compliance activities.
4. Experience working across application, z/OS and infrastructure teams.
