Front-end Developer (NL/EN)

At Gomibo, we build a lot of what we use ourselves - especially where custom development adds real value. We rely on open-source libraries where it makes sense, and build our own solutions when off-the-shelf tools fall short. Together, this powers the webshops and tools we use in 30+ European countries. As a Junior Frontend Engineer (Software Engineer I), you’ll contribute to production code from the start, collaborate with others on real features, and steadily grow your skills using the same tools and workflows as the rest of the team.

You’ll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary engineering team that includes frontend and backend developers, product designers, and product managers.

You might work on:

● Building UI components in React

● Learning to use GitLab, Vite, React Router v7, and Docker - although we assume basic knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and Git

● Fixing layout bugs

● Collaborating in code reviews and pair programming sessions

● Bringing designs to life and helping polish UX details

● Investigating why a dropdown only breaks when opened in Firefox on one specific version of macOS

There’s always someone to ask when you get stuck, and we’ll help you build confidence in both your code and your decisions. You'll get a designated buddy who will help you during your first period with us and who will make sure that you will have a flying start.

Frontend: React, React Router v7 (Remix v2), TypeScript, Vite, CSS, Jest, Storybook, Chromatic
Platform: GitLab for version control, code reviews, CI, and collaboration
Infra: Docker, Sentry, Kubernetes, Prometheus
Workflow: Agile mindset, daily standups, pair programming, and a culture of giving and receiving constructive feedback

We care about clean, maintainable code and a healthy learning environment. We work using agile practices and strive to organize ourselves into small teams - typically 5 engineers, one product manager, and one product designer. Code reviews are standard. We are realistic about legacy code — and take initiative to improve it

What we expect from you:

● You have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at a university of applied sciences (HBO) or research university (WO))

● You understand the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

● Preferably you have experience building projects with React or Vue

● You enjoy solving problems and figuring out how things work

● You are comfortable working in a team, asking questions, and seeking help when needed

● You are fluent in English (Dutch is helpful but not required)
