Acts as the primary technical contact for users of the enterprise data (orchestration) platform, helping teams troubleshoot issues, onboard successfully, and adopt platform capabilities. Investigates and reproduces reported problems, resolves user-side issues where possible, and escalates platform-related incidents to the platform engineering team when necessary.
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a strong service mindset to act as the primary point of contact for teams using our enterprise data platform.The goal of this role is to reduce the operational support load on the platform engineering team by helping platform users troubleshoot issues, adopt best practices, onboard successfully, and resolve problems that can be addressed within their own data products and repositories.This is not a platform development role. The consultant will not be responsible for building platform capabilities or infrastructure. Instead, the focus is on user enablement, technical support, troubleshooting, onboarding, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities

• Serve as the first-line technical contact for teams using the data platform.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues reported by platform users.
• Reproduce reported problems independently before proposing solutions or escalating.
• Guide teams toward existing documentation, standards, and self-service capabilities.
• Support onboarding of new teams and users to the platform.
• Help users resolve issues related to:
  • Access management and data warehouse permissions
  • Data pipelines and workflow execution
  • Data transformation frameworks
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Local development environments
  • Configuration and deployment issues
  • Data sharing and consumption between teams
• Analyze logs, pipeline failures, and configuration issues to determine root causes.
• Maintain and improve FAQs, knowledge articles, and support documentation based on recurring questions.
• Escalate suspected platform defects, infrastructure issues, or runtime incidents to the platform engineering team with sufficient diagnostic information and appropriate prioritization.

Success CriteriaThe consultant successfully reduces support demand on the platform engineering team by:

• Acting as the first point of contact for platform users.
• Resolving user-side issues independently whenever possible.
• Accelerating onboarding of new teams.
• Improving platform adoption and self-service usage.
• Ensuring escalations to the platform team are complete, well-diagnosed, and actionable.

Wat neem je mee
Must-haves

• Several years of experience as a Data Engineer or Data Platform Engineer.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with modern cloud data warehouses.
• Experience with dbt, including: Sources, Models, Data contracts, Exposures.
• Experience reading and validating YAML-based configuration.
• Experience troubleshooting data platform issues across development and production environments.
• Ability to analyze logs, error messages, pipeline executions, and job failures independently.
• Experience distinguishing between user configuration issues and platform-level defects.
• Strong experience with: Git, GitLab or comparable CI/CD tooling, Docker, Development containers (Dev Containers).
• Ability to investigate failed build and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Argo Workflows, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Prefect, or similar.
• Experience using monitoring and observability tooling such as Grafana or equivalent platforms.
• Ability to trace failures across ingestion, transformation, and data distribution processes.
• Has a strong customer and service orientation.
• Enjoys helping engineering and analytics teams become self-sufficient.
• Can explain technical concepts clearly to users with varying levels of expertise.
• Is curious, methodical, and evidence-driven in troubleshooting.
• Searches documentation and existing knowledge sources before escalating.
• Communicates clearly and pragmatically.
• Understands ownership boundaries and knows when to coach, support, or escalate.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic Kubernetes knowledge.
• Basic cloud platform knowledge (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with data ingestion and EL/ETL frameworks.
• Database migration tooling experience.
• Familiarity with data privacy, retention, and governance concepts.

Wat krijg je
Number of hours: 32-40
Location: Den Bosch (2x per week)
Max hourly rate: 90 EUR.

4. Afronding en start: Bij een succesvolle match regelen wij de contractuele zaken, zodat je zorgeloos kunt starten in je nieuwe rol.
