Job Description
For a short-term assignment based on-site in Utrecht, we are looking for a Chemical Compliance Consultant. The consultant will support the local Lab Safety organisation by improving chemical inventory quality, optimising chemical information systems, and assessing chemical storage practices to strengthen compliance and day-to-day usability.
Responsibilities
The Chemical Compliance Consultant will be responsible for:
- Validating the active CMR/ZZS chemical inventory and correcting data issues within the inventory system
- Reviewing and improving the chemical information database, including structure, chemical records, SDS links, and maintenance approach
- Defining practical data standards, ownership, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities
- Improving emergency access to SDS information for laboratory users and emergency responders
- Assessing chemical storage locations, including compatibility, segregation, quantities, and labelling practices
- Supporting the closure of relevant audit findings and strengthening ADR/UN labelling controls
- Establishing routine inspection requirements and supporting periodic clean-up activities
- Updating controlled documentation, templates, and training materials where needed
- Coordinating implementation with key stakeholders and completing a clear handover at the end of the assignment
Requirements
To be successful, candidates should have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, laboratory sciences, EHS, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of chemical inventory management and SDS information
- Experience working with CMR/ZZS substances and chemical classification principles
- Good working knowledge of ADR and PGS 15 requirements related to chemical storage, segregation, and labelling
- Proven experience with data validation and implementing compliance improvements
- The ability to work independently, proactively, and to agreed timelines
- Strong communication skills in English; Dutch language proficiency is required

Other Information
This position is based on-site in Utrecht, Netherlands, and will involve close collaboration with laboratory users, safety stakeholders, facilities, operations, and system owners.
