We are looking for a talented and hands-on
Supply Chain Manager
to lead and oversee all aspects of supply chain operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, customer satisfaction and last but not least: as a sincere people manager with a succesful trackrecord in change management.
This role requires direct responsibility for teams handling customer order management, production planning, raw material purchasing, packaging, and shipping while also securing procurement activities and supporting supplier evaluation and development. The Supply Chain Manager will not only lead but also be able to perform operational tasks, understand and work with the software systems used, analyze and optimize processes, and represent the team in the management team, maintaining open communication with all company functions. The ideal candidate is proactive, team-oriented, and focused on improving key KPI’s such as on-time deliveries, backlog reduction, and customer service excellence.
This is a management team (MT) position, contributing directly to strategic decision-making and organizational development. Experience in mass/series production environments and a solid understanding of P&L fundamentals is considered essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor the customer order handling, production planning, purchasing, packaging, and shipping teams;
- Ensure smooth cross-functional collaboration with production, sales, quality, finance teams, etc.;
- Act as a problem-solver and escalation point for supply chain issues;
- Maintain open and transparent communication across departments to align on company objectives;
- Play a leading role in change management initiatives, ensuring buy-in across teams and functions.
2. End-to-End Supply Chain Oversight
- Ensure efficient order processing and demand planning to align with customer needs;
- Oversee procurement of raw materials and packaging, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supply security;
- Support the purchasing team in supplier evaluation and development to improve performance and mitigate risks;
- Optimize inventory levels and material flow to prevent shortages and excess stock;
- Manage and improve shipping and logistics operations to guarantee on-time deliveries.
3. Hands-on Process Involvement & System Knowledge
- Be capable of performing all key operational tasks within the supply chain department when necessary;
- Utilize and troubleshoot ERP/MRP and supply chain software for order processing, inventory control, and planning;
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing bottlenecks and inefficiencies in processes in cooperation with the Lean Expert.
4. Lean & KPI-driven Improvements
- Deploy Lean supply chain principles to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve responsiveness;
- Monitor and improve key KPIs, including: On-time deliveries; Backlog reduction; Customer satisfaction on service levels; Inventory turnover and material availability;
- Work proactively to reduce supply chain risks and improve supplier performance.
5. Representation & Strategic Contribution
- Represent the supply chain function in management meetings, providing insights and recommendations;
- Contribute to the company’s strategic initiatives, ensuring supply chain alignment with business goals;
- Stay updated on market trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance supply chain performance;
- Contribute with insights that reflect a basic understanding of P&L impact and cost optimization.
