Are you an experienced Data Architect with a strong background in Azure and Databricks? This hybrid role in the Rotterdam region offers the chance to lead the cloud migration and design a scalable data warehouse architecture from the ground up. Our client is a global organization active in a regulated industry, currently undergoing a large-scale data transformation. With fragmented systems across regions, they are investing in a new, cloud-native data platform to drive decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency. The culture is international and collaborative, with long-term ambitions and a clear focus on data governance, scalability, and cross-functional impact. The team works hybrid, with flexibility around remote and on-site collaboration.

As Data Architect, you will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the organization’s next-generation cloud-based data infrastructure. Your focus will be on delivering a secure, well-governed, and scalable platform using Microsoft Azure and Databricks, replacing existing tools like Snowflake. You’ll work across engineering and business domains to align architecture with strategic goals.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and implement a scalable data warehouse architecture using Azure and Databricks

• Lead the migration of legacy systems such as Snowflake

• Develop and enforce data governance policies (data quality, access control, compliance)

• Collaborate with international business and tech teams to translate requirements into technical design

• Provide technical leadership to the data engineering team

• Stay current with trends in cloud data platforms and apply best practices

• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture, preferably in cloud environments

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure, Databricks, SQL, DBT, and ETL/ELT pipelines

• In-depth knowledge of data modeling, integration architecture, and governance frameworks

• Experience working in complex, international organizations with multiple stakeholders

• Fluent in English and proficient in Dutch (minimum B1) for internal communication

• You must be based in the Netherlands and hold a valid EU work permit or permanent residence

• Gross monthly salary: €4.300 – €6.200, depending on experience

• Additional flexible benefits budget (usable for extra pay, leave days, or pension)

• Bonus scheme

• Fully employer-paid pension (no employee contribution)

• Hybrid working model: typically 2–3 days per week on-site

• Long-term position with high technical ownership and strategic impact
