About the Company

The R&D Nutrition team in Wageningen is at the forefront of delivering science-backed insights into the role of nutrition in health and well-being. Operating in a dynamic life sciences lab environment, the team plays a critical role in developing and validating innovative nutritional ingredients and products.

This position sits within the In Vitro Analyses team, a key function in the R&D Nutrition department. Working alongside interdisciplinary experts, the team designs and executes in vitro digestion studies and cell-based assays that contribute to the substantiation of product health benefits.

About the Role
As an R&D Technician, you will play a hands-on role in supporting research and development activities related to nutritional science. Your primary focus will be on in vitro digestion models and advanced cell culture techniques. You will be part of a highly collaborative environment, working closely with life science researchers and scientists to plan experiments, generate high-quality data, and maintain laboratory operations.

This is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. It is ideal for professionals who enjoy experimental work in a fast-paced, research-driven setting and want to contribute to impactful health-focused innovations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct experiments involving in vitro digestion and cell culture models
  • Deliver high-quality scientific results and reports, including data analysis and documentation
  • Perform (cell-based) biochemical assays; qPCR and/or dPCR experience is a plus
  • Ensure smooth laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and lab safety
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within R&D and with other departments
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of lab processes and project efficiency
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (HBO/HLO) in Life Sciences or related field
  • At least 2–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, particularly in cell biology and microbiology
  • Practical expertise in:
    • In vitro digestion
    • Cell culturing (airway, gut, or immune cells)
    • Biochemical and cell-based assays
  • Proficiency in data handling, analysis, and scientific reporting
  • Strong communication skills (spoken and written English)
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Team player with a curious mindset and a flexible, hands-on approach
