Senior Java Developer Groenlo • Nedap

As a Senior Java Developer within the Back Office Tech Team of Nedap Healthcare, you will work on the technical foundation of the largest product in the Ons® Healthcare landscape: Ons Administratie. Your team supports the three domain teams that work on this product every day. The mission? To improve the underlying application platform and increase developer happiness across all teams.

In recent years, we’ve focused on upgrading Java from version 8 to 21, updating our application framework, and migrating CI/CD from Jenkins to GitHub Actions. We are also making significant architectural changes to ensure Ons Administratie is future-proof.

Our main challenge for the coming year is to transform Ons Administratie from a single-tenant, bare-metal deployment into a multi-tenant, high-availability container-based environment. This involves rethinking everything from session management and on-disk data to database connection management and background job handling.

All of this must be done while supporting the daily workflows of thousands of healthcare professionals who rely on our software. This modernisation has to happen seamlessly – without disrupting the user experience.

• Problem-solving: Designing and justifying solutions for complex technical challenges;

• Modernisation: Contributing to modernising the application’s frameworks, modularity, architecture and CI/CD pipelines;

• Collaboration: Working closely with your own team and with other teams across and outside the tribe;

• Knowledge sharing: Sharing your experience and guiding other domain teams in designing technical solutions.

As a Senior Java Developer, you’ll play a key role in modernising our back-office and helping care professionals do their best work. You enjoy digging into complex challenges and building long-term solutions.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

• Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Java Developer;

• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Jakarta EE and recent Java versions;

• Tooling: Experience with Java, MySQL, WildFly, JSF, Vue, JUnit, Cucumber, Playwright, REST, JQuery, GitHub – or similar tools;

• Initiative: You like working independently and digging deep into technical topics;

• Collaboration: You enjoy sparring with peers and creating future-proof solutions;

• Methodical: You work systematically to migrate legacy code and avoid disruptions;

• Mindset: You’re persistent, resilient and not easily discouraged;

• Languages: You speak both Dutch and English fluently.
