Due to the organization's growth, we are expanding our team and looking for a Compliance Officer to continue providing excellent support to all internal and external stakeholders.

What will you do?

As a Compliance Officer, you play a key role in our complex international trade flows. Our products move within the EU and are exported to the U.S. and Morocco. You ensure accurate VAT and customs processing, optimize transfer pricing, and safeguard SOX and IFRS compliance. With your proactive and analytical mindset, you improve processes and ensure financial transparency within our dynamic paper industry trading company.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate and collaborate with the accounting-team and external service providers for timely and accurate VAT filings, Intrastat, and ICP submissions in 19 countries.
• Monitor VAT deadlines and ensure timely follow-up on payments and audit inquiries.
• Reconcile VAT ledger accounts in collaboration with the Financial Accountant GL.
• Train the Accounting, Process, and Sales departments on VAT treatment and relevant changes.
• Handle BUA-calculations and Transfer Pricing documentation.
• Maintain and oversee proper import- and export-documentation, including HS codes, origin data, and declarations.
• Manage customs permits, customs-related power of attorneys for carriers, and long-term supplier declarations.
• Act as the point of contact for customs authorities, freight forwarders, and fiscal representatives.
• Annually evaluate and update Finance & Control procedures.
• Support IFRS and SOX processes and monthly closings.
• Assist in projects related to e-invoicing, ViDA-preparation, SOX, and SAP S4/HANA.

What we expect from you:

• A completed bachelor’s degree in Fiscal Economics, Tax Law, Finance or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in VAT and customs within an international (trade) environment.
• Knowledge of EU-VAT regulations and international trade flows.
• Familiarity with IFRS- and SOX-standards (preferred).
• Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system (preferred).
• Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Customer-, service-, and result-oriented approach.
• Strong stress resistance and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and take initiative.
• Strong analytical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
