Job Description:

We are looking for a qualified, self-employed chef with culinary skills for our restaurant in Utrecht.

What will you do as a self-employed chef?

You'll prepare meals yourself and help new colleagues prepare them. Although we use standard recipes, this requires some practice. And a pinch of patience from you, as not everyone immediately masters the finer details of cutting. It's up to you to set an inspiring example and continuously monitor quality. If everything smells, looks, and tastes as you think it should, then the plate can go with the server. If not, you'll intervene and kindly point out areas for improvement to your colleague. We also expect you to keep the place clean and safe and to have a hospitable, collaborative mindset.

You prepare all dishes according to a fixed recipe and teach others to prepare them as well
You can perform preparatory work such as washing, cutting, (pre)cooking, mixing, stirring, etc.
You can assess the quality of products/ingredients to be used (freshness, shelf life, etc.) and prepare resources.
You can carry out the preparations, monitor/check the quality, doneness, taste, color, fluidity, etc. and make adjustments/additional dosages.
You keep everything tidy and safe and work according to HACCP guidelines:
You ensure that colleagues understand and breathe the importance of hospitality
You identify opportunities for improvement and communicate these back to the Head Chef

We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements

Stress resistant
You are a team player but also able to work independently within your tasks and knowledge package.
Have demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
You come from the Netherlands, the EU, within the EEA or from Switzerland and have permission to work here in the Netherlands
You have completed a training program equivalent to a chef's degree at least at MBO-3 level and can provide supporting documentation. If you don't yet have that level but are willing to learn to achieve it, you can also apply.
