As the HSE Team Lead, you will play a central role in managing and guiding the Health, Safety, and Environment operations across the organization.You’ll be responsible for shaping, executing, and enhancing HSE strategies, policies, and operational systems to ensure compliance and drive continual improvement.Your expertise will help foster a forward-thinking safety culture, creating a secure and regulation-compliant workplace for employees, contractors, suppliers, and visitors—both on-site and at international project locations. Leading a dedicated HSE team, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor on high-level safety and environmental issues. In this position, you will also provide regular insights and reports on HSE performance metrics to support business objectives.Because communication within the organization is bilingual, fluency in both Dutch and English is a requirement for this role.Functie-eisen
• You bring at least 7 years of solid HSE experience within project-driven environments, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership, coordination, or supervisory role, demonstrating a track record in building and managing HSE systems and engaging with varied stakeholders.• You have hands-on experience managing HSE aspects within complex projects, overseeing team operations, and delivering effective HSE-related training initiatives.• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable field.• Your knowledge of HSE frameworks is extensive, with deep familiarity with systems like ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, and a strong grasp of applicable laws, standards, and industry benchmarks.• You possess an advanced safety qualification, such as the Dutch HVK diploma or an equivalent certification like the NEBOSH Diploma or CSP.• You’re a confident leader with a proven ability to guide, support, and inspire teams while fostering professional development.• Strategic insight, critical thinking, and sound judgment are among your key strengths.• You are fully proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English.• Strong references are essential, as a background screening is part of the recruitment process.• Only applicants holding full and permanent EU citizenship and a valid EU passport will be considered. • Candidates with dual nationality or a non-EU work visa do not meet the project-specific eligibility requirements due to its defense-related nature.Key Responsibilities:• Take ownership of building and sustaining a forward-looking HSE culture by guiding all health, safety, and environmental efforts and securing compliance and safety for all involved parties. This involves designing, executing, and refining robust HSE strategies and operational frameworks.• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, challenging and inspiring them to embed safety deeply into the organizational mindset.• Offer high-level HSE expertise to ensure full legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance, serving as the main point of contact for external agencies, regulators, and partners, while supporting internal teams with strategic counsel.• Oversee complex HSE analyses and risk management efforts by initiating detailed audits and evaluations, supporting the team in identifying and applying effective controls, and confirming implementation results.• Promote a culture of continuous improvement in HSE performance by steering improvement initiatives, monitoring key safety indicators, and rolling out data-driven enhancements organization-wide.• Manage the response to major incidents, ensuring thorough investigations, in-depth root cause analysis, and timely documentation and reporting.• Ensure accurate and up-to-date management of essential HSE documentation, including registers related to health issues, environmental concerns, and hazardous materials.• Lead and grow the HSE team by mentoring and supporting Officers and Assistants, balancing workloads, and contributing to long-term planning to align HSE efforts with broader business goals.Arbeidsvoorwaarden
