Senior Cloud SecOps Engineer Amstelveen • Cyber Security District

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Cloud SecOps Engineer to join our Platform
Management team during a pivotal phase of organizational transformation. Following a recent merger, our client is consolidating infrastructure (and IT in general), streamlining security operations, and deploying a centralized SOC using Microsoft Sentinel.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building secure, scalable systems from the ground up. In your role you will be part of an international organization; regular travelling, is required to Cologne where part of the IT team is located. Your primary location will be Amstelveen, The Netherlands.

• Lead the design, deployment, and tuning of Microsoft Sentinel
• Define use cases, alerts, and automation playbooks
• Integrate data sources across both legacy environments on-prem and Azure Cloud
• Review and approve firewall change requests
• Ensure alignment with security policies and business needs
• Collaborate with the Platform Management and Application Team to optimize rule sets
• Support the security consolidation of two organizations (IBM Qradar and Sentinel)
• Identify and remediate gaps in cloud security posture
• Align IAM, logging, and monitoring across Azure tenants
• Contribute to incident response planning and execution
• Document processes and support audit readiness
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, and IT stakeholders
• Implement and manage vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Defender for Cloud, Qualys, Tenable)
• Analyze scan results, prioritize remediation, and track closure
• Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams to mitigate risks
• Report on vulnerability trends and risk posture to leadership

• 5+ years in cloud security operations, preferably in Azure
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel or similar SIEMs (such as IBM Qradar)
• Strong understanding of firewall technologies and network protocols
• Experience in M&A or multi-tenant cloud environments is a plus
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Prior involvement in post-merger IT/security integration
• Ability to translate technical risks into business impact
• Familiarity with Agile or hybrid methodologies
• Understanding of ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR
• Experience leading or participating in IR investigations and forensics
• Preferred certifications: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent security certification
