Philips Digital Processing group support business units in accelerating innovation in healthcare by developing embedded software for cutting-edge Philips products. To offer the best solution to our customers there is a need to use any form of AI on micro controllers with or without NPU support. Today’s platforms like Edge Impulse can build datasets, train models, and optimize libraries to run directly on device; from the smallest microcontrollers to gateways with the latest neural accelerators (and anything in between).
We are always investing in new technologies for the next generation of Philips products and solutions. AI is one of these topics. How can we support AI in embedded devices running on a microcontroller?
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
Make use of the Edge Impulse platform (edgeimpulse)
Collect samples
Train the model
Execute the model on a microcontroller
Investigating other platforms (STM32Cube.AI, NanoEdge AI Studio)
Investigating different targets (STM32Nxxx with NPU support)
The first use-case will be a single and double tap detector based on acceleration samples. This can be implemented on an evaluation kit and later integrated into an existing product for demonstration purposes.
Expected results:
Performance indicators with respect to CPU load, RAM usage, code-size.
