Voor de Schiphol Group zijn we op zoek naar een Software Engineer – Deep Turnaround.

Heb je ooit een vluchtvertraging meegemaakt? Je ziet je vliegtuig al staan vanaf de gate en denkt: “Waarom zijn we nog niet aan het boarden?” De realiteit is dat vluchten om allerlei redenen regelmatig vertraging oplopen. Het probleem is dat vertragingen zich vaak opstapelen, wat leidt tot verstoringen bij andere betrokken partijen en processen. Naast dat vertragingen enorm vervelend zijn, zijn ze ook kostbaar voor de betrokken organisaties.

Maar wat als we moderne data science en engineering kunnen gebruiken om dit probleem beter te begrijpen? Misschien kunnen we inzichten verkrijgen om bepaalde vertragingen te beperken of zelfs te voorkomen? Daar komt onze oplossing Deep Turnaround in beeld!

Deep Turnaround gebruikt “machine vision” (AI) om nieuwe, voorheen onbekende datapunten te genereren tijdens het zogenaamde turnaround-proces van een vliegtuig (een beruchte bron van vertragingen). Deze live data wordt vervolgens gedeeld met relevante luchthavenpartijen, zodat zij beter onderbouwde beslissingen kunnen nemen op basis van actuele data.

Over jouw rol:

Als Software Engineer ben jij het technisch aanspreekpunt voor nieuwe luchthavencustomers én een krachtvermenigvuldiger voor ons huidige platform. Je werkt onder begeleiding van een ervaren data engineer om integraties bij nieuwe klanten te realiseren, terwijl je ook bijdraagt aan betere monitoring, observability en documentatie van onze bestaande systemen. Je pakt afgebakende, tijdsgebonden taken op die het onboarden van klanten versnellen en de betrouwbaarheid van onze dienstverlening vergroten.

Wat je doet:

• Nieuwe luchthavens: Jij bent het eerste technische aanspreekpunt tijdens de ontdekking- en integratiefase. Complexere architectuur of uitrol stem je af met de lead data engineer. Jij realiseert onderdelen zoals veilige data-uitwisseling, kleine services en checks.

• Bestaand platform: Je verhoogt de betrouwbaarheid van het systeem door te werken aan monitoring, alerting, dashboards en standaardprocedures. Zo wordt er minder handmatige interventie vereist.

Takenpakket:

• Inrichten van veilige data-uitwisseling voor klanten (bijv. sftp/ftp endpoints, API’s/webhooks, VPN/firewallregels), volgens interne standaarden en onder begeleiding.

• Bouwen en onderhouden van kleine integratieservices in Go (voorkeur) of Python om gebeurtenissen te transformeren en door te sturen (Kafka/AMQP → REST/DB).

• Verbeteren van monitoring en observability (Prometheus/Grafana, logs, traces), definiëren van SLO’s, en onderhouden van bruikbare dashboards.

• Ontwikkelen van runbooks, checklists en sjablonen om de onboarding van luchthavens te standaardiseren en ad-hoc support te verminderen.

• Bijdragen aan schema governance en CI/CD (Gitlab/Github Actions); beheren van reproduceerbare en peer-reviewed configuraties.

• Eerste aanspreekpunt voor incidenten bij eigen integraties; uitvoeren van post-mortems en verbeteringen vertalen naar automatisering en documentatie.

• Samenwerken aan privacy/security-aspecten (GDPR), toegangsbeheer, certificaten, geheimhouding en beleid van minimale privileges.

Gevraagd

• Bachelor in computer science, software engineering, data/AI, elektrotechniek of vergelijkbaar; 5+ jaar ervaring met productiesoftware.
• Sterk in Go (vereist) of Python (tweede taal); ervaring met het ontwikkelen van betrouwbare, onderhoudbare services.
• Ervaring met streamingtechnologieën (Kafka of AMQP) en data-opslag (Clickhouse/PostgreSQL/Object Storage).
• Bekend met CI/CD via Gitlab of Github Actions; ervaring met containers (Docker) en orchestratie (Kubernetes of Nomad).
• Goede kennis van Linux en netwerken; vertrouwd met SFTP/FTP, certificaten, VPN en firewallregels.
• Observability mindset: ervaring met Prometheus/Grafana, gestructureerd loggen en tracing; proactieve houding richting support en Incidentresponse.
• Sterke communicatieve vaardigheden; je voelt je comfortabel in contact met klanten en multidisciplinaire teams.
• Engels is vereist, Nederlands is een pré.

• Ervaring met camera/video-oplossingen (RTSP/NVR/VMS), OpenCV/PyTorch/ONNX, modeloptimalisatie.
• Ervaring met Clickhouse (materialized views, rollups, retentie) en schema registraties.
• Kennis van Terraform/Helm, SSO/OAuth2/JWT, en geheimen/policy management.
• Achtergrond in luchtvaart, logistiek, of andere real-time, safety-critical omgevingen.
• Flexibiliteit om met verschillende tijdzones te werken; bereidheid tot incidenteel reizen naar luchthavens.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
