We’re looking for a Marketing Team Lead & Marketing Manager Water to join our Water & Maritime marketing team. This is a unique dual-role position that blends people leadership with hands-on marketing strategy and execution. You’ll lead a high-performing international team and drive marketing excellence across our Global Leading Markets (GLMs), with a strong focus on Climate Resilience and the Water Market.
As a Marketing Manager Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving our business growth within the dynamic B2B engineering industry, with a focus in the water, maritime and climate resilience market.
Your role is instrumental in achieving our Business Line (BL) strategy for growth. You'll work closely with our Business Development team and the Director Business Units (DBUs) to gain deep market insights and uncover growth opportunities through strategic initiatives.
Within your role, you will lead a team of marketing professionals to foster their growth and provide direction and guidance to support them to achieve business line (BL) goals and objectives, aligned with team priorities.
Lead a Global Marketing Team
- Inspire and manage a team of marketing professionals
- Oversee day-to-day operations, performance reviews, career development and coaching of employees.
- Help the team prioritise, balance workloads, and maintain wellbeing.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with our strategic ambitions.
- Work together with other Team Leads to effectively run the marketing department
Drive Strategic Marketing
- Marketing Strategy and Execution: Translate the business strategy into a comprehensive marketing strategy plan taking into consideration growth client segments, sectors and regions. Identify retention and growth areas and set up targeted campaigns that drive growth with a primary focus on the bottom of the sales funnel, including consideration and conversion. This involves crafting compelling campaigns that guide potential customers through their journey to becoming loyal clients.
- Portfolio management and expansion: Concentrate on maintaining the existing service and product portfolio and create new services when required. Focus in expanding specific products, services, or value propositions in designated client segments, regions or sectors. Identify opportunities for growth and develop strategies to maximise market share and revenue within these areas.
- End-to-End Content Activation: Take charge of the complete content creation and activation process for growth campaigns. Develop persuasive and resonant content that captivates our target audience, compelling them to take action and convert into customers. This includes content for web, social media, email, webinars, and more.
Enable Commercial Success
- Bridge the gap between marketing and sales by qualifying leads and driving them through the funnel.
- Collaborate closely with Business Developers and Sales teams to ensure smooth lead handover and opportunity conversion.
- Contribute to account-based marketing strategies for water boards, drinking water, and wastewater companies.
Tactical Management:
- Develop and Execute Growth Strategies: Create and implement data-driven growth strategies to increase the company's market presence, customer base, and revenue.
- Customer acquisition: Target and acquire new customers through tailored campaigns across diverse channels including digital marketing, content marketing, Account-Based Marketing (ABM), events, and partnerships.
- Cross-selling: Contribute to revenue growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and retention through cross-selling efforts (e.g. content personalisation, PMCs).
- Lead Generation: Generate high-quality leads for the sales team by creating and optimizing lead generation campaigns, including SEO, PPC, and social media marketing.
- Event Marketing: Identify, plan, manage and execute all growth industry-specific events, webinars, and trade shows to showcase the company's expertise and drive growth.
- Proactive PR and opinion pieces: Work with the PR manager on proactive PR and opinion piece initiatives, concentrating on topic-driven PR marketing activities aimed at positioning our experts as industry leaders in specific service/ product areas (portfolio driven).
- Budget management: Manage marketing budget efficiently, allocating resources to the most effective strategies and channels.
- Responsible to review and approve all marketing, marcom and campaign plans developed by the marketing managers.
- Responsible to align with, inform and update the BL Marketing Director on all growth areas and new developments.
Operational Management:
- Collaborate with the Digital marketing team to translate analytics reports and campaign performance from Power BI dashboards into actionable insights.
- Collaborate with the Digital marketing team to translate social listening reports and gain insights.
- Work closely with the content marketing team to provide guidance on the marketing priorities and what is the supportive, evergreen content needed to support the strategy.
- Perform lead qualification and lead management for all growth campaigns.

As our new Marketing Team Lead & Marketing Manager you will become part of the Water & Maritime Marketing team. You will be reporting to the Marketing Director and you will be part of the Marketing Management Team.

What do you bring?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in a marketing role, preferably within the B2B engineering or consultancy sector.
- Dutch native speaker
- Proven experience leading international marketing teams.
- Deep understanding of the global water market; strong knowledge of the Dutch water sector is a plus.
- Commercially savvy with a growth mindset and experience in sales enablement.
- A strong foundation in B2B marketing strategy, with a focus on lead generation and strategic growth.
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to leverage market insights and research to drive strategy.
- Proven experience in developing compelling VPs and PMCs for specific client segments or sectors in the water and maritime market.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience working with senior leadership.
- Excellent understanding of digital marketing channels (e.g., email, social media, display advertising) and customer journeys
- Proficient in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, lead management, and opportunity management. A good understanding of pipeline management.
- Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Outstanding organisational and time management skills, with the ability to execute with flawless attention to detail and meet all deadlines
- Self-motivated, agile, solution and result oriented
You will be joining an international team with a home base in the Netherlands. As part of your responsibilities, you require to travel within the Netherlands, ensuring you're an active and integrated member of the (wider) team. When you are based in the Netherlands, you can work from different offices. Once per week we work together in the office, in Amersfoort.
