Senior Data Consultant (Project & Programme Management)

Imagine leading the delivery of impactful data projects and programmes that transform large organisations into being data driven.
You help define strategic directions and roadmaps, engage with key stakeholders, and drive execution — all while keeping your team focused, aligned, and energised.

As a Project or Programme Manager at Valcon, you play a crucial role in realising data initiatives at our clients. You work with business leaders, architects, data engineers, analysts and other data specialists to structure and lead initiatives that deliver measurable business value — whether building a data platform, delivering dashboards, or running enterprise-wide strategic data programs.
You’re not just managing timelines and budgets — you make sure that a vision is translated into concrete steps, and you ensure delivery by removing roadblocks and aligning stakeholders. This way, the business gets the insights and infrastructure it needs.

What will you do?

As a Project or Programme Manager, you lead cross-functional teams across the full lifecycle of (strategic) data projects. You define and track deliverables, milestones, mitigate risks, coordinate internal and external teams, and serve as the go-to person for decision-making. You are able to refer back to strategic plans and adjust course where needed. With your deep understanding of the data landscape, you ensure strategic alignment and delivery of solutions that make an impact. All the while, you keep your stakeholders aligned and engaged.

Among your responsibilities will be the following:
  • Manage and deliver complex data initiatives, such as the roll out of a data strategy, new data platform builds, BI/reporting programmes, or data governance programmes.
  • Align with stakeholders in multiple levels of the organization to translate vision into clear deliverables over time.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams toward successful delivery.
  • Define and manage clear goals, deliverables, scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies, and potential future technical debt.
  • Ensure strategic alignment between data initiatives and business objectives.
  • Support Agile and hybrid ways of working, adapting delivery to fit the client environment.
  • Communicate progress to stakeholders at all levels – from sprint reviews to steering committees.
  • Support change management and adoption of data solutions within the organisation.
  • Help develop Valcon’s internal frameworks, standards, best practices and solutions.
  • Be an active contributor to the Valcon project and programme management community.
What do we offer you?
  • Personal development: a tailor-made growth path with trainings, courses, certifications and mentoring by experienced colleagues.
  • An innovative work environment: collaborate with a team of experts pushing boundaries in data, technology, and consulting.
  • Immediate impact and responsibility: you’ll make a difference for our clients from day one and are entrusted with responsibilities that will bring out the best in you.
  • Inspiring work culture: a supportive, flexible, and no-nonsense environment that fosters your growth and fully allows you to be yourself.
Additionally, we offer:
  • Competitive employment benefits, including bonuses and expense allowance.
  • A company car or mobility budget.
  • A workplace that prioritizes and respects your work-life balance (for example by offering you the option of taking a sabbatical or increasing the number of holidays per year).
  • An affordable sports membership that allows you to participate in 50 different sports offered by over 10,000 partners.
  • A vibrant community that organizes both professional and social events.

Experience

  • You have strong stakeholder management skills — you’re comfortable at both operational and executive levels.
  • You have a thorough understanding of data concepts and the ability to connect data requirements to core business processes and business outcomes.
