Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft and TU Enschede).

About the team

For our Hengelo premises, we are in search for our French Naval market BD & Sales Manager.

The Sales Department is responsible for Order Intake and Customer Relations for the Thales Naval Nederland Domain with customers all over the world.

About your future job

As Sales Manager you will be responsible for the long-term relation with our international corporate defense customers in the military domain. Your operational market will be the French Naval market.

Your responsibilities include business development, sales and leading the capture team for bids in the area of mission critical component in the navy domain.

You will be part of the Sales team of Thales Netherlands focusing on the Military domain that is responsible for selling, producing and delivering Solutions. The core team of around 30 people, are specialists in naval systems and ground-based radar solutions and are embedded in Thales Netherland with 2500 employees.

Your core activities will consist of:

  • Managing the customer relationship: what are the customers’ current and future needs, how can we improve the relation and how can we support the customer.
  • Develop potential matches between customer prospects and Thales-NL strengths in technologies, capabilities and network in both Dutch government and NL industry. The responsibilities of the Sales Manager thereby include business development, partnership development, setting the strategy, sales and portfolio development of products and services; 
  • Capturing contracts by proposing winning offers and successfully negotiate profitable contracts; thereby mainly offering in accordance with the Defence Acquisition Systems of foreign nations and respective OEM’s;

As part of this position, you will be the privileged Thales Naval Nederland BD&Sales directorate point of contact with the other domains of the worldwide Surface Radars Business Line.

The person we are looking for:

  • Has demonstrably commercial skills and technical knowledge to explain solutions to the customer (BtB and BtG);
  • Is not afraid of complicated and long defense acquisition processes;
  • Is fascinated by high tech products and state of the art innovation and eager to learn;
  • Is a team player and is able to localize and mobilize the expertise and workforce needed;
  • Has an affinity with electronic technology, preferably in the defense industry;
  • Is used to work with a CRM
  • Is prepared to travel in France on regular basis;
  • Bachelor or Master degree  preferably in combination of Business Administration and Technology; 
  • Understands the concept of business development and marketing;
  • Working experience minimum of 10 years;
  • Knowledge of the Thales French Navy and Navy Group ecosystems;
  • Successful Experiences with the French Navy and Navy Group is a plus;
  • French citizenship;
  • Fluent in English and in French.
