As Director of the Business Unit Multinationals, you take overall responsibility for the unit’s financial, strategic, operational, and cultural performance. You will foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture, driving collaboration and integration.

In this role, you actively lead cross-border collaboration, navigating diverse markets, cultures, and regulations to deliver integrated solutions to global clients and drive international impact for the business unit.

With a strong focus on consultancy and engineering, you lead the development and implementation of our value proposition that addresses sustainable production, cost reductions, time to market, and speed of change. You champion innovation and digital transformation, embrace new business models and automation, and represent the business unit both internally and externally by building strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients.

Working closely with other Business Units and Business Lines, =your leadership will ensure alignment with corporate strategies in digitalisation, innovation, our people agenda, commercial excellence, reinforce our commitment to quality and safety and contribute to shaping a future-ready and sustainable industrial landscape within the Industry & Buildings business line.

Key focus areas for the role of business unit director:

Business Unit Leadership & Performance:
You are responsible for ensuring the unit operates successfully, consistently delivering strong financial results, capitalizing on market opportunities, and providing high-quality services with effective project execution and outstanding client satisfaction. In doing so, you also carry the responsibility of enhancing society together, ensuring that the unit’s impact contributes positively to the communities and environments we serve.

You foster a positive, inclusive team culture that promotes high performance, professional growth, and wellbeing. By encouraging collaboration, you help integrate new teams and capabilities and you are able to strengthen unity across the unit.

Strategic & Commercial Growth:

You apply your market vision and entrepreneurial mindset to drive commercial success and uncover new growth opportunities, leveraging your extensive experience and network in the industry and supply chain operations to accelerate innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.

In this role, you lead the development and delivery of practical solutions that combine engineering expertise with strategic consultancy. This includes managing teams that provide engineering services alongside specialists in supply chain and logistics, digital twin technology and simulation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:

You act as a visible leader both within the organization and externally, representing the interests of the Business Unit and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders. Additionally, you provide guidance to the Multinational management team, focusing on strengthening team cohesion and unlocking synergies across the group.

As director, you will oversee about 900 engineers, consultants, and project managers. These colleagues work in one of the eight advisory groups working in six countries, led by a director that will report to you.

In this role, you bring substantial experience in engineering and consultancy, with a track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects across sectors such as FMCG, Food & Beverage, Breweries, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and New Technologies.
Your global experience and cultural awareness enable you to lead international teams and foster strong client relationships. Your commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and risk management skills drive long-term success and sustainable results.

Experience with digital transformation, innovation, and new business models is required, and having experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integration is a strong plus. Just as important is your ability to bridge consultancy and engineering—bringing together strategic advisory services with hands-on engineering expertise. Finally, you are visible, approachable, and inspiring, creating an environment where talent is nurtured and empowered to deliver meaningful impact for our clients, our business and society.

Given the international scope of this position and the need to collaborate effectively within a diverse, cross-border team, proficiency in both Dutch (NL) and English (ENG) is required.
