As the data management expert within our Technology Platforms team, you will play a key role in operationalising data governance through technology, architecture, and systems integration. This role ensures that our data governance tooling is effectively implemented and is aligned with technical and business requirements. This role acts as a bridge between the Data Governance Transition Team and the Business Technology teams and ensures that governance efforts are standardized, scalable, and embedded into Rituals’ and data infrastructure.  

Key Responsibilities: 

The key responsibility of this role is the computational data governance, with a focus on the technical side of data governance, create a technical vision and implementing the right tools, frameworks, and technical enablers for data product delivery teams. This includes: 

• Develop and Implement Data Policies: help shape data governance standards within Rituals and ensure adherence within the tech organization, and integration with our newly build Enterprise Data Platform and Open Metadata data catalog. 
• Maintain Data Quality: oversee data flows of engineering teams, to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data, and implementing frameworks for validation. 
• Compliance and Security: ensure data processing complies with legal and organizational guidelines, including alerts and observability metrics. 
• Risk Management: identify and mitigate data-related risks, particularly regarding PII data handling and data access. 
• Education and Training: organize trainings for teams on data management and best practices for our tools and frameworks. 

Strategic Value: 

As our Data Management Expert, you will help shape the data governance standards within Rituals and directly impact the technical success and sustainability of our data governance initiatives. In this role you will create the technical vision and roadmap for data governance, and ensure that our governance framework is operationally implemented and embedded in our data infrastructure. With Rituals’ rapid growth, this is crucial for our operational continuity, enabling our ambitious analytics vision and increasing our AI readiness via data governance by design. 

Key Stakeholders: 

• You will be part of the Technology Platforms team within the Business Technology department. This team is responsible for the tech & standards for engineering teams and builds and operates (a.o.) the Enterprise Data Platform (GCP), Open Metadata data catalog, and data contract service. 
• On a daily basis you’ll collaborate with the Data Governance Transition team, which is positioned within our business departments, to create shared goals and work towards our common Data Governance vision. 
• The engineering teams within our Business Technology department to enable and educate them in using our tools and frameworks and ensure data products are aligned with governance requirements 
• Legal and compliance departments to ensure data governance adherence is embedded in our technical strategy. 

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a data management role with a focus on architecture, technology, policies and processes. This includes Enterprise Data Platforms, domain driven architecture, data products, data contracts, lineage, and quality monitoring frameworks. 
• A strong ability to translate governance requirements into technical specifications and solutions. 
• Experience implementing a data catalog, lineage and data quality frameworks (such as Great Expectations or Soda) for technical teams and driving adoption. 
• Excellent collaboration skills, especially in interfacing between governance, architecture, and technical teams and ability to influence and drive change. 
• Familiarity with Open Data Contract, Open Metadata and GCP is a plus. 
• Passionate about improving data quality and fostering a data-driven culture.
