We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation Designer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex industrial projects, working across both greenfield and brownfield environments. Our client is a global provider of professional services in the energy, chemicals and resources sectors. They deliver projects and provide engineering, procurement and construction expertise to the upstream, midstream, chemicals, power, and mining and minerals sectors.

As a Senior Instrumentation Designer, you will be responsible for executing design and drafting activities throughout all project phases — from DEFINE to EXECUTE — ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project standards and schedules. You will work independently under limited supervision, collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, construction teams, and third parties to deliver robust instrumentation and control designs.

Perform design and drafting for both greenfield and brownfield projects, often managing multiple smaller projects simultaneously.
Liaise and coordinate with internal teams, including maintenance, engineering, and other disciplines, to ensure cohesive design integration.
Prepare and review key design deliverables such as:

• Block Diagrams
• Instrumentation and Control Room Layouts
• Cable Tray Layouts
• Installation Details
• Loop Diagrams
• Terminal Lists
• Instrument Datasheets
  Wiring Diagrams
• Ensure technical accuracy, design clarity, and compliance with international codes (IEC, ISA, ISO).
• Conduct Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC) and issue finalized engineering drawings.
• Provide technical support to construction teams and resolve site-related design queries.
• Review and finalize As-Built documentation for client handover.
• Use AutoCAD and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) to produce and modify design drawings.
• Attend project meetings as required and contribute to progress reporting and productivity tracking.

• Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Design (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a major contractor or consultant in the oil, gas, or chemical industries.
• Proven experience in both greenfield and brownfield project environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
• Strong working knowledge of IEC, ISA, and ISO standards.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare, check, and issue design deliverables independently.
• Thorough understanding of safety and quality procedures.
• Fluent in Dutch (mandatory).
• Available to work on-site five days a week.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively to meet project goals.
