Senior Java Software Engineer

A significant part of the IT Department is located in Breda from where IT Services are developed and provided for various BMW entities and the European market.

In this role you will be working in a local Agile Development team that collaborate with different international teams of highly qualified staff.

Who are we looking for?

As an experienced Java Software Engineer, with a proven track record, you will both develop, build, test and deliver the enhancements and the 3rd level support for internally developed applications as well as you are responsible for quality, delivery and scalability for software made in a local team, based in Breda. 

As a developer you’ll work full time 40 hours and your position is based in Breda. You are part of an Agile Development team and work at least 2 days per week from the Breda office. You’ll be the key person driving delivery keeping a keen eye for quality of the software and you make sure that roadmap milestones are being met.

• In-depth Java software development experience with proven track record within various industries and organisations.
• Very good knowledge of Quarkus, Maven, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in cloud technologies and deployment models (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS).
• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools as well as software quality tools, specifically Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus and Sonar.
• Experience building modern event-driven applications with a cloud-native approach.
• Proven track record of driving MVP implementations in a technical multi-tiered environment within a large and corporate enterprise.
• Experience working with 3rd parties for operations and maintenance.
• Good communication skills with peers, product owners, feature teams, architects and stakeholders.
• Eager to solve complex problems with innovative solutions in a structured and organized approach.
• Creative, results oriented, self-steering, pro-active, cooperative mindset and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in corporate and regulated environment.
• Work experience in The Netherlands is a requirement.
• Proficient in business English, both in writing and speaking.
• Speaking Dutch is a bonus.
• Previous experience with front-end technologies, preferably JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular.
