About the team
Engineering is part of the Naval organization within Thales The Netherlands and consists of six main departments: System, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Radar Front End Engineering, Supportability Engineering and Engineering Delivery Management.
The Supportability Engineering department is responsible for the definition, development and realization of ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) activities for our radars, electro-optical systems and combat management systems. ILS is a methodology how the team, by means of early influencing the design, develops a Maintenance Concept for the entire life cycle, against optimal availability and the lowest possible costs.
The multidisciplinary department consists of about 60 experts in the teams Logistics Engineering, Customer Documentation, Customer Training and Obsolescence Management.

About the job
The Head of Discipline Supportability Engineering is responsible for the performance of the department and the well-being and professional development of its people. He/she ensures the deployment of the department processes, methods, tools and practices while proactively striving to identify more efficient and effective methods of working.
Head of Discipline Supportability Engineering:
- is a member of the Engineering Management Team
- is Manager of 3 to 6 team managers
- ensures the proper learning and coaching to support the professional development of employees (competences, skills and career development)
- is responsible for the department budget and department tooling landscape
- is responsible for innovation of Supportability Engineering technologies, methods, tools and processes
- cooperates with stakeholders from the Services segment on various initiatives such as Design for Service
- sets up and coordinates partnerships with internal and external partners (footprint and outsourcing initiatives)
- works together on various subjects with Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Services, HR, Purchasing, IS/IT, Make-or-Buy Managers and others
Why you would be a good match
- You have a proven experience as a line manager working in a technical environment.
As a manager Supportability Engineering you:
- have a Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering or equivalent
- are a motivated person who has a proven track record in the Engineering and Project domain
- have some experience in a service environment
- are target driven, result oriented and able to coach the team managers in the team accordingly
- set the direction, provide energy and connect with your team
- are able to connect to people and connect people with each other
- are fluent in spoken and written Dutch or English
