What will you do as a Lead ICT/ Telecoms Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres)

As a Lead ICT/ Telecoms Engineer within the global Mission Critical Facilities Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting various disciplines such as controls and instrumentation, security, civil, and others. Your primary responsibility will be to develop overarching IT Data Strategies and provide technical advice on Telecommunications systems for Mission Critical Facilities (Data Centres).

In this versatile and dynamic role, you will produce the telecommunication design scopes on global Mission Critical Data Centre projects, including both greenfield and brownfield projects. Your duties will include developing the ICT Philosophy, undertaking condition surveys of existing ICT (Active and Passive) and associated control systems, and preparing survey reports that detail non-compliance with legislation and operational improvements required. You will determine the best design approach based on technical and commercial constraints and support the development of system architectures for industrial environments, including greenfield and brownfield ICT upgrades.

You will prepare designs for ICT/Telecoms from initial concepts through to technical designs (RIBA 1 to RIBA 4) and collaborate with project stakeholders to find the best technical solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with and instruct Revit Technicians to develop the associated 3D Revit model to meet the project requirements and coordinate the ICT scopes with other engineering disciplines (Control, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.). Your responsibilities will also include the preparation of design deliverables, including Specification of Requirements (SOR’s), drawings, schedules, and datasheets, as well as preparing performance specifications, tender packages, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s). You will evaluate tender packages on a technical basis and support the General Contractor and Client through the RIBA 5 Construction process by answering RFIs and reviewing technical submittals. Finally, you will participate in Testing and Commissioning up to IST (L5).

The five key responsibilities in your role will be:

  • Developing IT Data Strategies and providing technical advice on Telecommunications systems;
  • Designing data networking, fiber infrastructure, and structured cabling systems;
  • Working on wireless access points, network management systems, and telephony;
  • Understanding equipment settings, mobile communications, and connection port counts;
  • Designing Network Operation Centers, Security Operation Centers, and handling site radios.
